## In short

Gorae Byeoljang Suji Branch is a chicken bar on the first floor of an apartment retail block by Seongbok Station in Suji-gu, Yongin. On a weekend evening the Gorae Byeoljang Set (38,000 won) brought fried chicken, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and pork yukjeon (pan-fried pork in egg batter) in one order, and dipping the chicken and yukjeon in the chewy wheat rice cake sauce was the highlight. With weekday hours until 2am and free parking, Gorae Byeoljang Suji Branch suits both family dinners and group nights out.

I finally made it out to a Yongin restaurant after a long while, and since it was my first time exploring the local Yongin food scene, it felt pretty novel. From great vibes to a great drinking spot, Gorae Byeoljang is a solid pick for family gatherings or work dinners.

## Gorae Byeoljang Suji Branch hours and how to find it

Gorae Byeoljang Suji Branch is open Monday to Saturday from 17:00 to 2:00 the next day (last order 1:00), and Sunday from 17:00 to 24:00 (last order 23:00). Parking is free, and delivery, takeout, and group bookings are all available.

It's located on the first floor of an apartment complex near Seongbok Station, in the retail block. The apartment complex has a spacious retail parking lot, so it was easy to park and walk over.

## What the Gorae Byeoljang storefront and interior look like

![Exterior of Gorae Byeoljang Suji Branch on the first floor of the apartment retail block near Seongbok Station](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-02-sjmbl-900.webp)

Clean exterior. There were lots of dishes that go well with beer, and maybe because it was a weekend evening, this place was noticeably busier than the other restaurants nearby.

![View near the entrance of Gorae Byeoljang](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-03-8obet-900.webp)

![Menu sign at the entrance of Gorae Byeoljang](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-04-1vz3p-900.webp)

There's a menu sign right at the entrance, so I gave it a quick scan before heading in.

Since it's a chicken place in a mixed-use residential building, the weekend crowd was a mix of families out for dinner and friends meeting up for drinks after a while — the place was packed. The sofa seating area has a wall that opens up, so quite a few groups were seated there too.

I went in the late afternoon and the table next to us had clearly already been through a storm of food and drinks. It wasn't too loud though — just pleasantly lively, and there were plenty of families with kids too.

## Gorae Byeoljang menu and prices: how much is a whole chicken?

![Sign displaying Gorae Byeoljang's set menu](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-05-1ebv6-900.webp)

![Set menu contents and pricing chart](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-06-14fam-900.webp)

If you want to try all of Gorae Byeoljang's best dishes at once, I'd recommend the set menu — good lineup, good price.

![Menu board of side dishes and anju](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-07-4u2y3-900.webp)

![Menu board listing soups and tteokbokki](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-08-1vutx-900.webp)

For a drinking spot, the menu was surprisingly varied — chicken that pairs well as anju (drinking snacks), refreshing soup dishes, sweet tteokbokki, and budget-friendly ramyeon options.

![Chicken menu board showing fried chicken at ₩18,000](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-09-1fjlj-900.webp)

The chicken lineup in particular was diverse, and the basic fried chicken was reasonably priced at ₩18,000 for a whole bird.

There's fried rice and rice balls that are good for kids, plus you can add noodle sides — good to order your main first and add extras as you go.

![Drinks menu listing soju, beer, highballs, and makgeolli](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-10-1uxh7-900.webp)

True to a drinking spot, there was a decent lineup of soju, beer, highballs, and makgeolli (rice wine).

## Ordering the 38,000 won Gorae Byeoljang Set

![Full spread of the Gorae Byeoljang Set on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-11-ts0j0-1200.webp)

Gorae Byeoljang Set — ₩38,000, zero-sugar cola — ₩2,000.

![Zero-sugar cola and complimentary popcorn side](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-12-13x3o-900.webp)

For lightweights who prefer chicken with cola over chicken with beer, today it's zero-sugar cola again. The popcorn that comes as a basic side is self-refill.

## Wheat rice cake tteokbokki topped with fried sundae

![Wheat-rice-cake tteokbokki topped with fried sundae](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-13-1pfol-900.webp)

I haven't had really good tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) in a while, but after the first bite my friend and I both went "ooh, this is good" without even meaning to.

The rice cakes were the chewy wheat-flour type, and even as they cooled they stayed soft instead of hardening — the portion was pretty large, but we finished every last bit. The sauce base is a little similar to Yeoptteok's, so eating it together with the chicken is amazing.

![Close-up of fried sundae on top of the tteokbokki](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-14-121ak-900.webp)

The fried sundae (Korean blood sausage) on top was chewy yet crisp, and tastes best eaten fresh right out of the fryer. Bars don't usually get a tteokbokki recommendation from me, but here I can confidently say: if you like tteokbokki, order it, no question.

## Thin, crispy fried chicken at Gorae Byeoljang

![Chicken and yukjeon served together on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-15-por5d-900.webp)

Today's main event — the chicken — arrived together with the yukjeon (pan-fried meat slices). I was worried the food would take a while given how packed it was, but it actually came out faster than expected.

![Thin, crispy-battered fried chicken](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-16-1ouy4-900.webp)

Deliciously thin, crispy batter on the chicken. It's been way too long since I had fried chicken like this from a hof (Korean pub).

Size-wise the chicken falls somewhere between Kyochon and bhc. It's a perfect amount for two people sharing beer and one bird.

![A piece of fried chicken showing the meat inside](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-17-rek98-900.webp)

The batter was really thin and crispy, and the meat inside was moist and delicious. There's a dipping sauce that comes with the chicken too, but that day I was so hooked on the tteokbokki that I kept dipping the chicken in the tteokbokki sauce instead, like eating Yeoptteok's honey combo style.

## Pork yukjeon and portions too big for two

![Table set with chicken, tteokbokki, and yukjeon all together](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-18-129rz-900.webp)

Everyone around us seemed to be ordering the set, so I went with the best-combo set too, but once the yukjeon showed up as well, the portion turned out to be substantial. Honestly the Gorae Byeoljang Set is a bit much for two people.

![Full, generous portion of the Gorae Byeoljang Set](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-19-y001g-900.webp)

But no regrets. Because between the yukjeon, tteokbokki, and chicken, there wasn't a single thing I'd cut.

![Pork yukjeon topped with shredded scallion](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-20-3vcrj-900.webp)

Warm, tender pork yukjeon soaked well in egg wash and freshly pan-fried. Topped with spicy shredded scallion, it's a flavor that explains why the group tables around us were knocking back so much soju.

![Pork yukjeon dipped in garlic sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-21-1fccp-900.webp)

Dipped in the tangy, garlicky sauce, it cuts through the richness nicely — surprisingly appealing.

![Yukjeon being dipped into tteokbokki sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-22-m9kx4-900.webp)

![A piece of yukjeon coated with tteokbokki sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-23-1aqq4-900.webp)

Even the yukjeon couldn't escape a dip in the tteokbokki sauce. Whoever picked this menu combo deserves a round of applause.

![Leftover chicken and yukjeon after finishing the tteokbokki](https://img.superchart.com/images/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken/gorae-byeoljang-suji-late-night-chicken-24-83y6s-900.webp)

We finished all the tteokbokki, but there was still a bit of chicken and yukjeon left — too good to leave behind, so we asked to pack it up.

## Is Gorae Byeoljang Suji Branch worth a visit?

If this place were near my house, I'd probably bring the family here regularly. Great atmosphere, friendly staff all around — a solid weekend dinner out.
