We ordered the Rubber Duck Omurice, gochujang butter pasta, and sizzling hot-plate cheese cutlet because none of their looks could be skipped. Verdict: a fun, clean-feeling stop for a Hongdae date meal. I visited Omil Hongdae near Hongdae Station. There are so many restaurants in Hongdae, but when you are on a date, you end up looking for somewhere with good food, a clean space, and dishes that photograph well, right? From the moment I walked in, Omil Hongdae’s tidy interior made me think, This would be great for a Hongdae date! They also use Tabling, so I think it would be convenient during busy times. Even if the food is delicious, a place can feel a little disappointing for a date when it is too chaotic or the tables are packed together, right? I liked Omil Hongdae because the overall atmosphere was clean and comfortable. It would be nice for a meal with friends too, but personally, it felt even more suited to couples stopping in for food during a Hongdae date! It also seems like a good place to build a date itinerary around: eat near Hongdae Station, then head to a café or go shopping~! It is close to the subway station too~ Finding a restaurant when it is your first time in the area can be a hassle, right!! You worry whether it will be worth going all that way!! And then it was time to choose our menu. Usually, when two people go out for a meal, you order around two main dishes, right? But as I looked at the menu... I wanted the Rubber Duck Omurice, I was curious about the gochujang butter pasta, and I could not give up the sizzling hot-plate cheese cutlet either!! So we ended up ordering all three. Haha. We decided to eat until we were full that day~~!! Even the menu names were so distinctive that I was curious how everything would look. Once the dishes started arriving one by one, I thought we had done well ordering all three. The name is cute already, right? Haha. Unlike a typical omurice (Japanese-style omelet rice), it is a dish that immediately catches your eye, so I started taking photos as soon as it reached the table. Especially in an area like Hongdae, where so many people come on dates or to hang out with friends, dishes that are fun to look at as well as tasty seem more memorable. If you like omurice, this is one of Omil Hongdae’s signature dishes worth ordering! I would recommend it to anyone who loves taking photos too~! And it even comes with a tube Rubber Duck.... This was honestly one of the dishes I was most curious about. Gochujang (Korean fermented chili paste), butter, and pasta!! Just seeing the name made me wonder what this combination of Korean flavors and pasta would taste like. There are so many restaurants in Hongdae selling pasta, but I think one of Omil Hongdae’s strengths is having something a little different rather than the usual tomato or cream pasta. The Rubber Duck Omurice caught my eye first because of its look, while I ordered the gochujang butter pasta because its name made me curious about the flavor. Our final dish was the sizzling hot-plate cheese cutlet!! Is that not a combination that is almost impossible to make bad from the name alone? Haha. A hot plate + cutlet + cheese!! Food served on a hot plate has such a presence from the moment it arrives at the table. We could have stopped after ordering the omurice and pasta, but once I saw the menu photo, I could not give this one up either. Haha. So of course we ordered it too! With the cutlet alongside the pasta and omurice, the three dishes were all completely different styles, which actually made them great to share. Omil Hongdae, which I visited today, was a restaurant that suited the Hongdae neighborhood well, from its clean atmosphere to its distinctive menu. It was especially fun that it did not only have ordinary dishes: the Rubber Duck Omurice, gochujang butter pasta, and sizzling hot-plate cheese cutlet all had names that made you curious and want to take a photo. We were not planning to order quite this much at first... but we could not give up any dish based on the visuals, so we ended up ordering all three!! Thanks to that, our table looked wonderfully abundant~! If you are looking for a restaurant to visit on a date near Hongdae Station, or want to try some slightly different dishes with friends in a place with a nice atmosphere, I think it is worth visiting. It is also easy to continue on to nearby cafés or shopping after the meal, so it works nicely as part of a Hongdae date itinerary~!
