Today's post is about a gukbap (rice soup) spot near Cheonho Station that's perfect for a hangover cure. It's Boseung Hoegwan in Cheonho! Boseung Hoegwan has everything from pork jowl gukbap to bone hangover soup and sundae (blood sausage) gukbap, and if you want something spicy there's sundae hell gukbap and spicy pork gukbap too. You can pick your spice level, which makes it great for eating however you like.

The place is huge so I wasn't worried about seating, but quite a lot of people show up in the evening. Tables filled up fast, so I figured I'd better eat quickly once I sat down. There are solo seats that are convenient for eating alone too, which is great! Good for going solo when you need a hangover cure.

🩷Pork jowl gukbap, ₩13,000. Haha it's been so long since I had suyuk (boiled meat) gukbap!! Between sundae gukbap and suyuk gukbap I'm always team suyuk gukbap ㅠ0ㅠ

I love that they load it up with chives!! It tastes great with plenty of chives on top... that fresh, green taste? Love it haha. The chives are crisp, which makes it even more satisfying to eat.

True to its name, the pork jowl gukbap is loaded with meat, so you can keep eating and eating and there's still more meat to go.

The broth is already seasoned, so I don't add anything! It's just right without adding a thing. The meat is soft and tender — not chewy at all — so it's easy to eat.

### The kimchi that cuts the richness

The basic side dishes are simple, but I especially love Boseung Hoegwan's kimchi. I like kimchi that's freshly made, and this one's super fresh haha. Since it's pork jowl, it can get a bit rich after a while, but the kimchi cuts right through that richness so you can keep eating. The kimchi was so good I finished it all.

💚Mung bean pancake (nokdujeon) and seafood pancake (haemul pajeon)! Hahaha I actually agonized over this one ㅠㅠㅠ because I love jeon (savory pancakes), but since I was eating solo, I worried whether I could finish it all — even though I wanted it!! Turns out ordering it was the right call. One mung bean pancake and one seafood pancake come out cut in half each.

The seafood pancake had more seafood than I expected, and one bite was full of flavor — perfect as a side dish haha. The pancake batter is on the thick side? But the mung bean pancake is even thicker than the seafood one.

The pancakes come out golden brown, and dipping them in the accompanying seasoned sauce makes the seasoning just right — delicious.

Today I had a hearty meal at Boseung Hoegwan, a gukbap restaurant in Cheonho, with dishes like sundae gukbap, suyuk gukbap, and bone hangover soup all made with a deep, rich broth that anyone — young or old — can enjoy in a clean, generous way. There's also a full lineup of drinking-table food like bone-and-potato stew, sundae and gopchang (intestine) hot pot, assorted boiled pork, and squid sundae, so I'd recommend it for a casual drink or a work dinner too!
