## In short

Eom Yongbaek Pork Grill Gwanghwamun Branch is a charcoal-grilled bulgogi set restaurant on Yulgok-ro 4-gil, next to Jogyesa Temple in Jongno, Seoul, a short walk from Anguk Station. At lunch my wife and I ordered the charcoal bulgogi set for two at 16,000 won per person and added gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste stew) for 4,000 won, and the clay-pot rice was generous enough that we left some behind. For a home-cooked-style Korean spread in Gwanghwamun on a hungry day, Eom Yongbaek Pork Grill is the answer.

Eom Yongbaek Pork Grill Gwanghwamun Branch is, hands down, one of the top spots in Gwanghwamun. Last time I came with my wife and kid, but this time it was just the two of us, after our trip. My wife had good memories from before, so when I casually suggested going back, she was immediately on board. When even my food-obsessed wife says OK, you know it's a real Gwanghwamun favorite.

## Where is Eom Yongbaek Pork Grill? Next to Jogyesa, near Anguk Station

Eom Yongbaek Pork Grill Gwanghwamun Branch sits at 51 Yulgok-ro 4-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, right next to Jogyesa Temple. The exterior is clean and quietly elegant, and being next to a temple gives it a lovely calm atmosphere. There were also tons of office workers, so it felt lively too. I really love this side of Gwanghwamun.

The day I visited, there were 5 groups waiting. But since the seating is spacious, the line moved fast — like a sudden rush of tables opening up all at once. We waited about 10 minutes.

## Lunch menu and prices: 16,000 won per person, and what the add-ons cost

Lunch here isn't a wide selection — there are exactly two options: the charcoal bulgogi set or the squid charcoal bulgogi set. Each is ₩16,000 per person. Sounds pricey? Once you see how much food comes out, as I'll show below, you won't think that at all. The atmosphere is great, but the value for money is even better, which is exactly why both my wife and I left satisfied. Of course, if the set alone isn't enough for you, you can add extra charcoal bulgogi for ₩12,000, extra myeoljorim for ₩6,000, or extra gangdoenjang for ₩4,000.

## Second-floor seating at Eom Yongbaek Pork Grill has plenty of room

Here's the interior. Packed with people, right? You might think seating would be tight, but as I mentioned, the second floor has plenty of space, so no need to worry. (There's even a sign saying the restroom is on the second floor too.)

![Restaurant interior packed with customers](https://img.superchart.com/images/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch-05-s6jhn-900.webp)

We were seated upstairs as mentioned, and as soon as we sat down, the side dishes that were already prepped came out. Plenty of wraps too — definitely not skimpy.

## Gangdoenjang, myeoljorim and siraegi-guk: a home-cooked Korean spread

And here's what I mentioned earlier — gangdoenjang on the right, myeoljorim on the left. Both come included with the lunch set. But if you want more, you can order extra at the prices listed above. (No secret here — we did add extra gangdoenjang.)

![Gangdoenjang and myeoljorim included with the set](https://img.superchart.com/images/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch-08-quhad-900.webp)

Beyond that, a variety of side dishes come out too, plus siraegi-guk. The whole spread genuinely reminds me of a delicious home-cooked meal. So if you're thinking, ah, I'm starving today — I'd recommend Eom Yongbaek Pork Grill. I really think it's the best restaurant in Gwanghwamun.

### The clay-pot rice is more than two people can finish

The rice even comes as pot rice. There's so much of it you'll never run short. It's meant for two people, and my wife and I ate until full and still had rice left over — that's how generous the portion is.

![Pot rice for two people](https://img.superchart.com/images/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch-10-1pkmm-900.webp)

![Pot rice scooped into a bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch-11-1xl6a-900.webp)

Honestly, rice and siraegi-guk alone would already be a pretty solid combo, right?

Before the meat even arrived, we mixed the gangdoenjang and various vegetables into a bibimbap. That alone felt like a complete dish.

## Charcoal bulgogi for two: how much meat do you actually get?

And then the star of the charcoal bulgogi set arrived. This is the portion for two — and it's a lot of meat, right? Great for when you want to fill up with a group, but also perfectly fine for just two people like us.

![A plate of charcoal bulgogi for two](https://img.superchart.com/images/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch-14-92gig-900.webp)

Piling the charcoal bulgogi right on top of the bibimbap — that's just ridiculously good. Words really aren't necessary.

And here's the overall spread. Doesn't it just look mouthwatering?

### Adding gangdoenjang for 4,000 won and finishing with nurungji

And here's the extra gangdoenjang we ordered. We got it to pack in more protein (mostly as an excuse to eat more tofu). It's only ₩4,000, so if you want more, go ahead and enjoy it fully.

![Extra gangdoenjang ordered for ₩4,000](https://img.superchart.com/images/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch/eomyongbaek-gwanghwamun-charcoal-bulgogi-lunch-17-bwbh0-900.webp)

Even after two of us ate, this much rice was still left. But of course, nurungji (scorched rice) is a classic, so we scraped it up and ate that too. Naturally, it was delicious as well.

Here's the path up to the second floor. I didn't get a shot on the way up, so I took one here. You can go up through the inside, but this outdoor staircase route works too.

Lastly, I snapped a shot of Eom Yongbaek Pork Grill Gwanghwamun Branch on my way out. I'm officially naming it a top Gwanghwamun restaurant, and I'd love to come back with friends for drinks sometime :)
