The weather was so nice that I went for a walk at Apsan and had a coffee ~ ☕ For dinner I was craving something clean and Korean, and while searching I found Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch! With grilled pork, jjukkumi, bibimbap and other varied Korean dishes, it was perfect for Korean food lovers 👏🏻 Also, it comes out as a neat solo tray so it's great for eating alone too — here's my Cafe Dongi review 🙌🏻

## Where is Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch, and is there parking?

Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch, a great Korean restaurant in Daegu, sits down an alley just in front of Daemyeong Station on Line 1! With Duryu Park and Apsan nearby, it's a perfect stop for a hearty meal before or after a walk 😊

🚇 5-minute walk from Daemyeong Station Exit 1, Line 1
🚌 There's also a bus stop right in front of Daemyeong Station, so it's really convenient by public transit!

🚗 If driving, there's no dedicated lot, but as shown in the photo, about 2 cars can park in front of the store! If it's full, I'd recommend parking in the nearby alleys 🙋🏻‍♀️

## Solo bar seats, tablet ordering and the mood inside Cafe Dongi

Inside, Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch has a warm wood-tone and white color scheme, giving it an overall clean and cozy feel 👀! Table setups range from tables for two, to four, to group seating, and by the window there's a bar table that's perfect for eating solo 🙆🏻‍♀️ Every seat has a tablet installed, so it was really nice to check the menu and order comfortably ‪⸜( ˶'ᵕ'˶)⸝

There's also a sink inside the store, so it was so convenient to wash your hands right before or after eating without having to go all the way to the restroom! 💦

## Cafe Dongi menu and what three of us ordered

📋 The menu ranges from solo Korean set menus to basic trays and side dishes! Along with signature solo trays like grilled pork, grandma's jjukkumi, and Dong-a grilled pork bulgogi, there's also a separate kids' tray 👶🏻 On top of that, there's a good variety of side dishes like tangsuyuk, mandu, and kimchi pancake, perfect for pairing with the main dish ( •̀ᴗ•́ )و ̑̑

- Solo brazier series (pork/jjukkumi/bulgogi): the signature dish, served over a warm mini brazier so you get grilled-fire flavor and warmth all the way to the last bite!
- Stews (beef brisket doenjang / 40-year masters kimchi stew): a clean Korean tray with rich broth paired with tidy side dishes!
- Value line: full solo trays starting from ₩9,900, great for solo dining too!

The three of us ordered generously:
- Grilled pork bulgogi set ₩12,900 (kimchi stew swap +₩1,000)
- Summer yeolmu bibimbap set ₩7,900
- Grandma's jjukkumi stir-fry set ₩16,900
- Tasting-size tangsuyuk (mini) ₩9,900

## Free self-fry eggs and the self-serve rice refill bar

Right next to the counter you'll find this well-stocked self-serve corner 🥢 There's savory heotgae tea, plus free rice refills for when you need more, seaweed flakes, and extra plates all thoughtfully set out 😊

And Cafe Dongi's biggest charm point — the free self-serve fried egg station! 🍳 There's an induction burner, frying pan, cooking oil, and salt all fully set up, so you can fry your own egg sunny-side up or fully cooked to your taste ✨ Adding a freshly fried egg makes for a much more nutritious and hearty spread 🙌🏻

🍪 For dessert, there's crunchy, nutty-and-sweet barley gangjeong (rice puff candy) ready to go, perfect for cleansing the palate after a meal! 😋 (sold separately for ₩2,000 per bag)

## Flame-grilled pork set on a personal brazier, 12,900 won

After ordering, we didn't wait long before the dishes came out one by one ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝ Freshly stir-fried steaming jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) and pork bulgogi, cool crunchy-looking yeolmu kimchi, and crispy fried tangsuyuk!

The colorful mix of dishes had my mouth watering before I even took a bite 🤤 And I loved that it was all plated so neatly and cleanly as a full tray 👏🏻

![Full Korean set tray with side dishes and stew](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-12-mjs12-900.webp)

![Grilled pork bulgogi over the solo brazier](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-13-10ymt-900.webp)

The first dish we tried was the solo brazier grilled pork bulgogi set!🙋🏻‍♀️ As soon as it hit the table, a subtle smoky aroma spread — and since they light the fire under the individual brazier, you can eat every last bite piping hot, which was really satisfying! 🔥

![Grilled pork bulgogi and cabbage served over black rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-14-my9s7-900.webp)

![Close-up of smoky grilled pork bulgogi](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-15-1p965-900.webp)

Taking a big spoonful of black rice topped with pork and cabbage, the crunch of the fresh cabbage against the sweet-spicy pork was so good 😆 The pork had no gamey smell and was tender, with the seasoning soaked all the way through rather than just sitting on the surface — an easy dish for anyone to enjoy 🙆🏻‍♀️

![Kimchi stew with tofu and meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-16-iq5ht-900.webp)

The kimchi stew that came with it was also generously loaded with tofu, meat, and kimchi — deep, spicy, and clean-tasting, so I scraped the broth clean! ദ്ദി(៸៸ > ᴗ < ៸៸ )

## Summer yeolmu young-radish bibimbap set, 7,900 won

Next up was the summer specialty yeolmu bibimbap (young radish greens mixed rice)! 🌿 It came neatly served in a brass bowl, looking clean and even a bit upscale! The green yeolmu and baby greens, yellow egg strips, and seaweed flakes made a really pretty color combo 🥰

![Summer yeolmu bibimbap served in a brass bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-17-1fm8j-900.webp)

![Yeolmu bibimbap topped with gochujang sauce and a fried egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-18-1p5rm-900.webp)

Adding in the spicy gochujang sauce that came with it, plus the fried egg I'd made earlier, completed a perfect bibimbap ✧⁺⸜( •⌄• )⸝⁺✧ The crunchy, cool taste of the yeolmu really lifted my summer-worn appetite! It's been a while since I had bibimbap and it felt so refreshing ~ 💚

The perilla-seed seaweed soup that came alongside was also savory and smooth, pairing perfectly with the bibimbap 🤗

## Grandma's jjukkumi stir-fry set, 16,900 won

Next, we tried the dish that grabbed attention with its plump look right away — the solo brazier grilled jjukkumi!🐙 Even at a glance, the jjukkumi looked really firm and plump, promising a great chewy bite 👀✨ It also came loaded with cabbage, which I love, so I was already looking forward to it before even tasting it!

Look at the size of that jjukkumi, right!? ( ღ'ᴗ'ღ ) Dipped into the mayo sauce that came with it, the chewy, springy texture followed by the smoky spicy sauce and the soft, nutty mayo together were incredibly savory 👍🏻

The jjukkumi was, of course, great with rice ~ and there were also rice cake strips, nice as a treat to nibble on in between!

![Doenjang stew with tofu and mushrooms](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-21-10d0p-900.webp)

The doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) that came with it was also fantastically savory! It was packed with tofu, mushrooms and other ingredients, and paired perfectly with the jjukkumi 🙌🏻

![Tasting-size mini tangsuyuk fried in glutinous rice batter](https://img.superchart.com/images/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi/cafe-dongi-daemyeong-sunday-dinner-jjukkumi-22-1fe5g-900.webp)

## Signature glutinous rice mini tangsuyuk, 9,900 won

And finally, Cafe Dongi's signature tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)! I was genuinely surprised — Cafe Dongi's tangsuyuk looks and tastes as good as what you'd get at a Chinese restaurant 😲 The outside is made with a glutinous rice batter, so it's chewy-crispy, while the inside is packed with meat, giving it insane juiciness ‪⸜( ˶'ᵕ'˶)⸝

Dipped into the refreshing lemon-based sauce, it completely cuts through the greasiness of the fried batter and bursts with tangy, savory flavor! 🍋 If you love chewy glutinous rice tangsuyuk, I strongly recommend trying it as a side when you visit Cafe Dongi 😆
