## In short

Nonhyeon Bada (논현바다) is a seasonal sashimi and seafood restaurant in the food alley between Nonhyeon Station and Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul. After work, the writer and her husband shared the Bada Wild-Caught Set for two (₩55,000 per person), which ran from porridge and mussel soup through opaleye and yellowtail amberjack sashimi, sushi, buchu-jeon (chive pancake), corn cheese, tempura and grilled flounder head to a spicy fish stew. Nonhyeon Bada's Bada Wild-Caught Set is a generous course that left even her big-eater husband too full to continue.

## Nonhyeon Bada: an assorted sashimi set after work near Nonhyeon Station

Nonhyeon Bada (논현바다) is a sashimi restaurant in the Nonhyeon Station and Sinnonhyeon Station eating alley, a place where you can properly dig into an assorted sashimi set. My husband suddenly said he wanted sashimi, so after work we headed out toward Nonhyeon Station in the evening. We looked for somewhere that does a proper sashimi set and off we went to Nonhyeon Bada!

Honestly, I came because I'd heard the course menu at Nonhyeon Bada is seriously enormous. We went as a couple and ordered the set for two, and to tell you the ending first, the table was practically groaning..

## What comes with the Bada Natural Set at Nonhyeon Bada?

The Bada Natural Set is the signature set at ₩55,000 per person, and it brings porridge, mussel soup, wild seasonal sashimi, sushi, seafood, jeon (savory pancake), corn cheese, seasonal snacks, grilled fish, spicy fish stew and fried dishes. We ordered it for two.

Just reading the lineup leaves you out of breath, haha. Bada Natural Set sashimi course, let's go!

### Starting with warm porridge and mussel soup

![Steaming mussel soup from the Bada Natural Set](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-10-wx0cs-966.webp)

Piping hot, spicy mussel soup to savor the scent of the sea~ Steam was curling up from it, and the first spoonful of broth went down cool and clean.

![Warm porridge and mussel soup served at the start of the course](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-11-1w707-966.webp)

![Porridge to settle the stomach before sashimi](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-12-1k1lt-966.webp)

The warm porridge and mussel soup came first to settle the stomach. It felt like laying a gentle base before the sashimi.

### Rockbream and amberjack: opposite textures on one plate

![Plate of wild seasonal sashimi at Nonhyeon Bada](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-13-1mutx-966.webp)

The highlight of the Bada Natural Set is, of course, the sashimi. Neatly arranged slices with the grain of the fish still visible sat on the plate.

![Chewy rockbream sashimi](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-14-nlwp9-966.webp)

The rockbream (beng-edom) had a lively, springy chew the moment it went in my mouth. The faint sweetness that rose as I chewed was lovely.

![Melt-in-your-mouth amberjack sashimi](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-15-1wuks-966.webp)

The amberjack (busiri) is the exact opposite charm. Super soft, it just vanishes~ "melts in your mouth" was spot on. To enjoy such different textures on a single plate! Nothing falls short. Of the sashimi, the rockbream was my favorite!

### Sushi, futomaki and seafood

![Sushi, futomaki and seafood from the Bada Natural Set](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-16-1npoq-966.webp)

The sashimi alone could fill you up, yet sushi and seafood kept coming one after another. The sushi rice was small enough not to feel heavy, and the generous topping made each piece easy to pop into your mouth in one go. One futomaki (thick roll) was so big that unless you have a really huge mouth you can't eat it in one bite, haha.

My husband, who loves sashimi, sushi and seafood alike, was already thrilled at this point, haha.

![Spanish mackerel, herring and uni sushi](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-17-1dgl4-966.webp)

From the left: Spanish mackerel, herring and uni. The uni was totally rich and nutty and just melted away.. the herring had a unique flavor too!

### Salmon salad, chive jeon and corn cheese

![Salmon salad served midway through the course](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-18-gfpth-966.webp)

Salmon salad in between to refresh!

![Crispy chive jeon packed with chives, and corn cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-19-1c9ru-966.webp)

A crispy chive jeon (savory pancake) absolutely packed with chives.. why does it go so well with sashimi...

My husband is crazy about corn cheese and loved it, haha. The corn cheese was sweet and nutty.

### Sweet potato and shrimp tempura, and grilled flounder head

![Sweet potato tempura and shrimp tempura](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-20-1trps-966.webp)

Sweet potato and shrimp tempura,, the light-colored tempura is tasty too. A fresh-tasting soy sauce, yuzu I think, made me finish all the tempura again..

![Grilled flounder head from the Bada Natural Set](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-21-1drjv-966.webp)

And even a grilled flounder head~! Picking the fish meat off thoroughly~~ and my stomach is bursting.

### Finishing with a fish-packed spicy stew

![Closing spicy fish stew packed with fish](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-22-el0xg-966.webp)

We finished with maeuntang (spicy fish stew)! There was so much fish in the Nonhyeon Bada stew... is this Jeju Island,, or Busan,,, a Gangnam sashimi restaurant sure packs a punch, haha.

![Sharp, spicy broth of the maeuntang](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-23-bp6c2-966.webp)

The sharp, spicy broth totally soothed my stomach. Hot soup after eating so much sashimi was a perfect finish. 👏 Even my big-eater husband threw in the towel, saying the Bada Natural Set was too filling, hahaha.

## Is Nonhyeon Bada worth going back to?

The Bada Natural Set was generous, and every dish was high quality, so it felt like a birthday table for my husband. The point is that the restaurant isn't big, but the course menu is huge.

![Closing photo of the Bada Natural Set at Nonhyeon Bada](https://img.superchart.com/images/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner/nonhyeon-bada-sashimi-course-dinner-24-1tgr4-966.webp)

The portions were generous, and every single dish was good. Nothing was bad. My husband fell so hard for Nonhyeon Bada that he says he'll come again with friends. He says it's the best pub too, since you can eat such a variety, haha.

If you're looking for a gathering spot around Nonhyeon, keep Nonhyeon Bada in mind. If you love sashimi, please do come once! It's near Exit 3 of Nonhyeon Station.
