I honestly don't even know how many times I've been here anymore haha. It's my go-to-go-to-go-to place, I guess?🤔 I'm just happy a place like this exists in Amsa -an Amsa local-

If you're looking for Japanese-style tonkatsu in Amsa-dong — no, in Gangdong-gu — it's Tonka, no question!! (It's that good,,,💖)

Parking works like the photo shows — one spot in front of the store, but as you can see, only one car fits, so the spot might already be taken…! I'd recommend using a nearby lot.

## All bar-table seating — great for solo diners and dogs alike

The inside isn't that spacious, so there can be a wait. Since it's all bar-table seating, it's really good for solo dining too!! (I saw a lot of solo diners.) I went on a weekend lunch and luckily got in with no wait haha.

There are also coat hooks on the wall, so you can hang up your outerwear while you eat — such a nice touch!!

My dog came along too, and I was able to sit her right beside me like this!! There aren't many restaurants in Amsa-dong you can go to with a dog, so being able to bring her to a place this good…! I'm just grateful🥹

While you wait after ordering, you can watch the tonkatsu being cooked right in front of you!! What's surprising is that despite being a tonkatsu restaurant, there's zero oil smell. Usually when you go to a fried food place your clothes end up smelling like oil, but this place is totally clean — I loved that?!

### Sasami Katsu, ₩14,000

I finally got to order the sasami katsu (chicken tenderloin cutlet) that's always sold out whenever I go!! It's a set that comes with tonkatsu-style sides, rice, soup, and side dishes.

First off, the soup is insane!! It seems like the soup or side dishes change every visit, and this time I got shiitake mushroom soup. The mushroom aroma was insane haha (I'm a mushroom fiend). Genuinely so good I could've finished all my rice with just the soup.

It's a chicken breast cutlet, but it's really, really tender!! Dry?? Zero of that. It's tender enough to pass for thigh meat, but with no fatty parts so it's really light. I remember shouting in disbelief the first time I had chicken breast katsu at Imakatsu in Tokyo, and to think I can feel that same excitement in Amsa-dong,,,🥹 It's genuinely so good ㅠㅠ You have to try it,,,

Dipping it in the orange salt they give you, the tangy orange flavor completely cut through the richness of the fried cutlet, it was so good ㅠㅠ I wanted to take the salt home with me haha.

### Tonkatsu, ₩15,000

The tonkatsu is a set that comes with loin katsu plus two pieces of tenderloin katsu!! The tenderloin katsu is really light but also really tender haha.

The loin katsu is also fantastic. The fatty part is completely savory with zero dryness. The biggest point about the tonkatsu overall is that it's not greasy at all?? Usually after eating tonkatsu you're left with that heavy, oily feeling, but Tonka's version is so clean✨
