Hi, I'm Shinjjangi! After work I was craving something spicy and hot, so I headed to a Baekseok-dong restaurant. It's a big place specializing in yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), and I ended up feeling so warmed up and refreshed I didn't even need to have been drinking first — let me introduce Yukdaejang, a Cheonan Baekseok-dong restaurant that gave me a forced hangover-cure feeling.

Yukdaejang is in one of the commercial complexes where a bunch of Cheonan Baekseok-dong restaurants are gathered, so the parking lot is shared and very spacious — no worries about parking, and it's great for group meals too.

The entrance is small, so I thought the inside would be cramped too, but it turned out the space stretches back really far — the interior of Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch is actually huge!

There were lots of 2- and 4-person tables, spaced out generously so it felt comfortable, and since yukgaejang turns tables quickly, even if it got fully booked it didn't feel like it would get chaotic.

It's the perfect menu for lunch in Baekseok-dong, but there were also plenty of older folks having a drink with their meal after work — since the place is so spacious, it's also a great Cheonan Baekseok-dong restaurant for a casual gathering.

The menu at Yukdaejang, a Cheonan yukgaejang specialty restaurant, features 7 kinds of yukgaejang along with plenty of other Korean dishes like dumpling soup, dumplings, naengmyeon, seolleongtang, jeongol (hot pot), bossam, and Eonyang-style bulgogi.

Once you pick your yukgaejang, you can add options like spice level, glass noodles, brisket, chadol beef, ham sari, chicken breast, and noodle sari — I liked being able to kind of DIY it to my taste.

## Fire beef kalmyeon: add the noodle sari from the start

Simple is best. It looked plain, but since I'd never had yukgaejang out anywhere else before, the visual made my mouth water.

Yukgaejang comes in three versions — rice, fresh noodles, or fried noodles — and eating it with noodles was a new experience for me.

It's loaded with green onion, which brings that refreshing edge to the broth, and since it's the fire version, the soup was noticeably spicier and sharper than the basic one — the kind of flavor that really clears you out!

Since it's fresh noodles, they were chewy like kalguksu, and honestly paired even better than rice. It was so good I tried to add extra sari midway through, but I was told the flavor and texture change if you add it partway, so sadly I couldn't add it... If you love noodles, definitely add the sari from the very beginning~

I stole bites from my boyfriend's bowl so I'm not sure how big the portion is, but adding brisket or other toppings here would make it even more varied and delicious.

## How does the old-style traditional yukgaejang taste?

[Old-Style Traditional Yukgaejang🍲] For the second bowl, I ordered the basic version of the old-style traditional yukgaejang to try the original Cheonan Baekseok-dong flavor.

It didn't look like much at first, but once I stirred it around, there was plenty of brisket and even glass noodles inside. The meat was shredded finely so it was tender, and the green onion still had a nice crunch, so the texture was great.

The traditional yukgaejang was the basic level of spice, so it wasn't hot, and the broth itself was clean and non-greasy with a natural, not-artificial kind of kick. Throw in some rice and you'll polish off the whole bowl!

## Is Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch worth a visit?

Even though it specializes in yukgaejang, the menu is varied enough that plenty of families with kids come here too — it's a Cheonan Baekseok-dong restaurant with a spacious dining room and easy parking. It's a solid, filling meal that also works well with a drink, and with affordable prices and quick service, it feels like the perfect Baekseok-dong restaurant for busy office workers :)
