## In short

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap (나들목 여주쌀밥) is a rice-and-side-dish Korean set-meal restaurant right beside Yeoju IC, near Yeoju Premium Outlets in Gyeonggi. At lunch the writer signed the tablet waitlist with 13 groups ahead, waited about 40 minutes, then ordered the bulgogi set for two and received fried eggplant with meat, japchae (glass noodles), konjac salad, 10 side dishes, jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) and doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), plus stone-pot rice that ends as nurungji (toasted rice). For a generous Korean meal with kids after outlet shopping, Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is worth the wait.

On a trip out to Yeoju Premium Outlets, I got a craving for Yeoju rice again, searched around, and found out there was a rice-based hanjeongsik (Korean set meal) restaurant near the outlets, so I headed straight to Nadeulmok. When I got there, though, there were way more people than I expected. It's right by the IC, so as soon as you're through the tollgate you're basically there — super accessible. Here's my waiting-then-eating report from Nadeulmok in Yeoju.

## Parking and the lunch wait at Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap, near Yeoju Outlets

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is easy to get to — right off the tollgate as you exit Yeoju IC. When I went, the lot in front of the restaurant was full, but going further in led to a bigger lot where I parked!

I put my name down on the tablet waitlist and waited, and the crowd was massive. Once you're checked in, you can wait in your car or in the waiting area on the left.

There were 13 teams ahead of me, and after about 40 minutes came the welcome notification to come in, haha. I went right at peak lunch hour, so the number of customers was enormous.

## Ordering the bulgogi set for two: one dish per person

So many people inside! We ordered the bulgogi set for two at Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap. Just a heads-up, from 1st grade of elementary school up, it's one menu per person ^^

There's coffee for after the meal, and they also sell Yeoju rice. Since I was already in Yeoju I wanted to grab some, but we still had rice at home, so I passed, haha.

## Starter salad, fried eggplant with meat and japchae

The pre-meal salad had a crisp, fresh crunch of vegetables, and the sauce wasn't overly sweet or sharp — it lightly woke up the appetite. It was easy to pick at with a chopstick or two before the meal, and clean enough to work well as a starter.

I thought it was just fried eggplant, but the first bite was a nice surprise — it was packed with minced meat inside, haha. The outside was fried crispy and savory, and the inside was full of moist meat filling; the more I chewed, the more savory it got. My husband thought he was getting plain fried eggplant and ended up enjoying it even more once he found the meat inside.

The japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) had glass noodles seasoned just right, not too salty, and my kid ate it happily. The chewy noodles with crisp vegetables tucked in were delicious. The konjac salad had a springy yet light bite that was pretty appealing.

## Jeyuk-bokkeum, doenjang-jjigae and bulgogi on one table, refills included

Finally the main dishes filled the table — jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), and bulgogi all up on top, just looking at it made for a hearty full Korean spread!!! Plenty of side dishes to go with it too — the table was practically groaning under the food. Especially nice: jeyuk-bokkeum, doenjang-jjigae, and the side dishes are all refillable.

The bulgogi came piled generously onto a round hot plate — looking every bit the main dish it is 👍 As the bulgogi's aroma rose gently off the warm plate, even my kid started asking for rice quickly, haha. Plenty of meat, and the sauce soaked in just enough to be great with rice.

With the doenjang-jjigae, the first spoonful already had that deep, savory soybean paste aroma. Just the broth alone made me want rice, and eating it with the chunky bits too, even my kid ate it well. It paired great with both the bulgogi and the jeyuk-bokkeum.

## 10 side dishes, stone-pot rice and nurungji to finish

The side dishes at Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap don't come one or two at a time — a whopping 10 kinds are laid out at once, and it's satisfying just to look at. From namul (seasoned vegetables) to muchim (seasoned salads) to accompaniments, there's such a variety that even eating the same bowl of rice, you can try a different combination each time. Pairing side dishes between bites of the main bulgogi or jeyuk-bokkeum made it feel like a truly complete Korean spread.

They scoop out some of the freshly cooked stone-pot rice and pour in warm water to make nurungji (scorched rice tea/porridge).

Topping freshly steamed white rice with each side dish, one at a time, reminded me that Korean food really tastes best eaten with rice. There was a real fun to piling different things on the rice! Especially alternating between the mains and the sides, a whole bowl of rice disappeared in no time.

We finished it off cleanly with warm nurungji. The savory nurungji, topped with crisp oiji (pickled cucumber), had the seasoning of the two melding together beautifully — delicious to the very last spoonful. A satisfying day of hearty Korean food! If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant near Yeoju Outlets, I recommend Nadeulmok.
