It finally happened to me too, haha 😅 Gray hair..... I used to think it was something that only happened to other people, but suddenly I'd catch a strand or two in the mirror ㅜ.. I thought about just plucking them out, but there's only so much plucking you can do, so this time I decided to actually get a proper gray coverage dye job!

So I visited Eco Revi Hair & Spa Gwangju Hanam Branch! I found out while searching that Eco Revi handles not just regular hair services but scalp and hair care too, and since I usually worry a lot about my scalp when dyeing, I figured this place would be a good fit.

Since I visited the location near Hanam in Gwangju, if you're looking for a hair salon in that area you may have heard of it! Walking in, it felt a little different from a regular salon. It felt less like a place you just get your hair done and leave, and more like somewhere that checks your scalp too.

Going further inside, the space was bigger and more neatly arranged than I expected, and there was a comfortable waiting area on one side.

There were also hair products and scalp-related products on display, which was fun to browse. I like looking at hair products anyway, so I ended up checking out a few, haha.

One thing that was surprisingly convenient — the men's and women's changing rooms were separate. That seemed like it'd make changing clothes for a treatment more comfortable.

The consultation at Eco Revi Hair & Spa Gwangju Hanam Branch happened in a separate consultation room, which was nice because I could talk about my hair and scalp condition without worrying about other people around. I had a lot of questions about my scalp specifically, and I was able to ask freely!

They also prepared drinks and light snacks for while I waited. I hadn't eaten a single meal and had been out running errands since morning, so I was starving — I munched on the snacks happily, haha. Sipping a drink and having some snacks made the wait feel pretty relaxed!!

## Scalp photo diagnosis before the gray coverage

I tend to care a lot about my scalp condition whenever I go to a salon, so before dyeing they checked my scalp first. Instead of just eyeballing it, they actually took photos of my scalp so I could see for myself.

This was more fascinating than I expected. Usually I only know how my scalp is doing based on a vague feeling, but seeing it in a photo let me actually gauge the condition with my own eyes. And since my scalp isn't in the best shape normally, scalp irritation from dyeing is always my biggest worry.

When I mentioned my scalp usually isn't great, they explained about seborrheic hair loss and told me in detail about scalp care options like scalp scaling or head spa treatments. Up until now, going to a salon usually just meant getting a hair service and leaving, so actually seeing my scalp condition and hearing about care methods felt different.

Since Eco Revi itself focuses mainly on scalp and hair loss care, the scalp consultation flowed naturally. I wasn't planning to get any scalp treatment that day, but after hearing the explanation I started thinking — maybe next time I come back I should try the scalp scaling or head spa?

## Why color 1, the darkest black, was the choice

There was a pretty funny episode with this dye job, lol. At first I just wanted a natural dye that would hide the gray. But during the consultation, I noticed designer Soyeon's hair color looked so clean and sharp. So I suddenly blurted out, \"Your hair color is so pretty, can you do the exact same for me!\" Turns out that color was color 1 — basically the darkest black available.

The designer explained that color 1 is such a dark shade that if I ever want to switch to a different color later, dye alone won't do it — I'd likely need to bleach, so it's not usually recommended. But I was already planning to keep doing gray coverage dyes and stick with black going forward! So after thinking it over, I said \"I'm going to stay black anyway so it's fine lol\" and went with color 1. Honestly, I wanted a vivid, clean black, so it turned out to be exactly my taste, haha.

## Scalp protectant and a shampoo with a shoulder massage

After checking my scalp during the consultation, they carefully applied scalp protectant before starting the dye. This kind of thing might seem small, but I really loved it ㅠㅠ. I'd been worried about my scalp stinging or burning during the dye process, so having them be careful from the very start put me at ease.

After applying the dye and waiting, I moved over for the shampoo, done by designer Jisu. And here's where I got surprised again... I thought it'd just be a shampoo, but it included a shoulder massage too?! Wow, it felt so good, haha. I already love it when salons do scalp massages during shampoo, but having my shoulders worked on too nearly put me to sleep... I came in for a dye job and ended up accidentally healing, lol. Honestly, that shampoo session was the most memorable part of the whole visit.

## The finished gray coverage: a deep, vivid black

And finally, done! It came out exactly the vivid black I wanted 🖤 Especially with the gray sections covered so cleanly, my whole head looked way more put together. My hair color was noticeably darker than usual, and it made my overall look feel a bit sharper too! Between the salon's atmosphere, the scalp check, and the care I received, I kept thinking to myself, \"Wait, did I just come to a clinic...?\" haha

Of course it's a hair salon, but having my scalp condition checked by photo and explained to me made it feel a bit different from my usual salon visits. What I liked most was that they checked the part I was worried about — my scalp — before dyeing, and took care to apply protectant thoroughly. If you need to dye over gray hair but worry because your scalp is sensitive, this is probably the kind of detail you'll care about.

I came in for one thing — gray coverage — but ended up learning a lot more, including my actual scalp condition and how to manage it. Since I'll likely need to keep doing gray coverage dyes going forward, I realized hair color isn't the only thing that matters — how I manage my scalp while continuing to dye matters too. So next time, I'm thinking about trying not just the dye but also the scalp scaling or head spa they told me about, haha.
