## Where is Jamsil Cheotjip?

Jamsil Cheotjip is a Korean restaurant and gimbap (seaweed rice roll) spot at 61 Seokchonhosu-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul, B102, basement level, in Jamsil-saenae. I'm the type who jumps out of bed at the word 'gimbap' — I tour the famous gimbap places and stock my freezer with rolls to eat later, that's how much I love it!

So when I heard there was a place not far from Jamsil-saenae that takes gimbap to another level entirely, there was no way I could skip it~

This time we visited a lunch spot in Jamsil-saenae called 'Jamsil Cheotjip'!

> Jam: Jam-sil, wait, where's this lunch spot in Jamsil-saenae again?
> Sil: Sil-huk — filling, generous fillings + gimbap bursting with umami
> Cheot: Cheot-nune banhal — a Korean and bunsik spot you'll fall for at first sight
> Jip: Jip-bab gateun ttatteuthami — the warmth of home cooking, that's 'Jamsil Cheotjip' for you~

## What the restaurant is like at 10:45am on a weekday

We arrived at a pretty awkward mealtime — 10:45am on a weekday — so Jamsil Cheotjip had plenty of open seats when we walked in.

Rolls upon rolls being packed for takeout, delivery riders coming in nonstop. 'Oh, we've really found a proper local favorite!'

(When we came back a bit later looking for parking,) (the place was so packed there wasn't a single empty seat left.) I genuinely wished it was right in front of my house!

## What we ordered at Jamsil Cheotjip and what it cost

Every item on the menu sounds delicious just from the name, which makes choosing genuinely hard. I wanted tteokbokki, I wanted noodle soup too — after a difficult but fun back-and-forth, here's what we settled on:

![Table spread with jeyuk bibimbap and two kinds of gimbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-08-vsls9-966.webp)

- Jeyuk bibimbap (spicy stir-fried pork rice bowl) — ₩10,000
- Double cheese egg gimbap — ₩6,000
- Mukchamkeetomayo (aged kimchi, tuna mayo, and egg gimbap) — ₩8,500

### Jeyuk bibimbap (spicy pork rice bowl) with noodle broth

![Jeyuk bibimbap topped with lettuce and bean sprouts](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-09-atq07-966.webp)

- Fresh green lettuce + rich, well-seasoned pork + yellow bean sprouts + savory seaweed, all in one bowl
- The colors alone made my mouth water
- Mixed it up thoroughly~
- Took a big bite
- The flavor wasn't overly intense

![Close-up of jeyuk bibimbap mixed together](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-10-c6wbq-966.webp)

- The seasoning was well-balanced
- Barely any spiciness
- And yet it never got boring.

![A spoonful of jeyuk bibimbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-11-1eftx-966.webp)

![Lean-cut pork used in the jeyuk bibimbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-12-dlkcg-966.webp)

- The pork was mostly lean meat rather than fatty cuts, so it never felt greasy
- And the portion of meat was generous, too.

![Generous portion of pork and rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-13-q2wz4-966.webp)

![Noodle soup broth served alongside the jeyuk bibimbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-14-1ni2f-966.webp)

- No artificial smoky flavor, which I actually appreciated
- Sometimes places go too salty or too intense with seasoning
- But here they really hit that perfect delicious line

### Double cheese egg gimbap

![Cross-section of double cheese egg gimbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-15-1ikzm-966.webp)

- A cross-section that makes you want to hit 'like' right away
- Egg sheet packed in the middle — not dry at all, soft and fluffy
- Loads of cheese — rich and gooey with a nutty flavor
- Perilla leaf — adds a sophisticated aroma to the whole bite

![Gimbap cross-section packed with egg sheet and cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-16-1d553-966.webp)

![Double cheese egg gimbap with perilla leaf and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-17-uzgjh-966.webp)

- Vegetables that balance everything out — a gentle supporting role
- Soft, nutty flavors in perfect harmony, all very natural
- I never got tired of it, kept eating it like popcorn.

### Mukcham keto mayo gimbap (acorn jelly and tuna roll)

![Mukchamkeetomayo wrapped in egg instead of rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-18-rc0ss-966.webp)

- True to the 'keto' in its name,
- (keto = ketogenic, a low-carb, high-fat diet, apparently.)
- No rice at all — just packed full of egg

![Cross-section of keto gimbap with aged kimchi and tuna mayo](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-19-19j2k-966.webp)

![Mukchamkeetomayo plated on a dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-20-ew0ql-966.webp)

- The crisp, refreshing tang of aged kimchi (mukeunji)
- The rich, nutty but not-too-heavy tuna mayo
- The egg sheet, firm yet soft at the same time
- Such a genuinely grateful flavor.

![Picking up a piece of mukchamkeetomayo](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-21-1jq7g-966.webp)

![Final shot of the full meal at Jamsil Cheotjip](https://img.superchart.com/images/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch/jamsil-chetjip-jeyuk-bibimbap-lunch-22-18o4x-966.webp)

- It tasted so indulgent on the tongue, like a guilty pleasure
- But the flavor itself still felt healthy
- I really could eat this every single meal.
- No heaviness at all afterward — my stomach felt completely comfortable!
