## In short

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is an ocean-view Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor above Subyeon Choego Pork Gukbap at 51 Marine City 3-ro in Haeundae, Busan. With a reserved window table facing the open sea, the lunch set for two (two poached-egg ganjajang plus black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk) came with jalapeño cream shrimp, and the coconut-powder-topped tangsuyuk had a deep sauce that was not overly sweet. As long as the window seat is booked ahead, Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch works well as a date-night restaurant.

## Window tables need a reservation — how good is the ocean view?

The window-side tables at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch are available if you reserve ahead. The view from here was amazing.

![Marine City ocean view seen from the window table](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set-13-bug8r-966.webp)

The sea is right in front, with nothing blocking the view, wide open — a seat that lifts your mood. And the light fixtures are light enough to sway in the wind, which is really pretty.

Photos taken at the window tables come out really pretty, so if you visit, I recommend taking some! Definitely reserve a window table before visiting!!

## What comes in the lunch set for two

I was so busy taking photos of the view that I forgot to photograph the menu, haha;;; If you visit during lunch, the lunch set for two is available from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Lunch set for two — two poached-egg ganjajang (black bean noodles) and black vinegar pork tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). We ordered this set, plus added jalapeño cream shrimp.

FYI, if you write a receipt photo review at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, a Haeundae restaurant, you get free yaki-mandu (fried dumplings)!

### The side dishes served with the meal

![Basic side dishes: danmuji and jjacai](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set-17-18dd3-966.webp)

Bueokgan's basic side dishes were thinly sliced danmuji (pickled radish) and jjacai (pickled mustard root).

## Black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk: the coconut powder is the kick

This is the signature tangsuyuk of Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, a Haeundae restaurant, topped with a sauce made from Chinese black vinegar. It's said to give a deeper, richer flavor.

![Black vinegar pork tangsuyuk topped with coconut powder](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set-18-mwy6n-966.webp)

It had crunchy raw onion and wood ear mushroom in it, and the standout feature was the crispy, nutty coconut powder topping right on top.

![Black vinegar pork tangsuyuk with raw onion and wood ear mushroom](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set-19-9x5n8-966.webp)

It was my first time having tangsuyuk topped with coconut powder — it was nuttier than expected and paired really well, doing its job as the dish's kick perfectly. When I took a bite, it was clearly fresh out of the fryer, with a pale crispy batter outside and tender pork loin packed inside. Usually with tangsuyuk the sauce is too sweet and makes you want water constantly, but there was none of that here — the sauce itself was delicious with deep flavor, and as a tangsuyuk addict, I ate happily.

## Jalapeño cream shrimp — can people who avoid spice eat it?

I can't handle spicy food, but the cream sauce itself wasn't spicy — if you can't eat spicy food, just avoid the jalapeño topping and you're fine!

![A plate of jalapeño cream shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set-20-kk4lj-966.webp)

The batter was crispy. The cream sauce was tangy, pairing well with the fried shrimp. The crunchy lettuce underneath added texture and made it even tastier.

The shrimp must have been very fresh — the flavor itself was rich and melted in the mouth, and the meat was cooked to a plump, springy texture.

## How the poached-egg pork belly ganjajang tastes

Bueokgan's signature dish: pork belly and onion quickly stir-fried on high heat as ganjajang (black bean noodles without much sauce), topped with a soft poached egg!

![Poached-egg pork belly ganjajang](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set-22-mso33-966.webp)

There was a poached egg, julienned cucumber, onion, and truly a generous amount of pork belly. Break the poached egg's yolk and mix it with the black bean sauce for an upgrade in flavor!

![Ganjajang mixed after breaking the poached egg yolk](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set/buukgan-chinese-marine-city-window-lunch-set-23-avh0j-966.webp)

The meat was cut into big chunks, giving good chew alongside the noodles, and there was so much meat that I was happy the whole time.

Even though it's ganjajang, it wasn't salty, and it had a flavor distinct from typical ganjajang — Bueokgan's own take, which I ate happily! When onion isn't cooked evenly it can taste harsh, but here it was cooked thoroughly all the way through, so the onion's sweet flavor came through well. There was also a gentle smoky wok-hei flavor.
