## In short

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese dining restaurant on Haeundae's Dalmaji-gil in Busan. The order was spicy gochu-ganjjajang (large) 12,000 won, seafood jjamppong rice 14,000 won, and yuxiang eggplant 22,000 won, pairing sharp jjajang sauce with a cool seafood broth and crisp-outside, tender-inside eggplant. Soft lighting and a big picture window make it a relaxed spot for a date or a family meal.

*Gochu-ganjjajang, seafood jjamppong rice, and yuxiang eggplant at 'Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch'*

While looking for somewhere to eat in Haeundae, I went for a slightly more atmospheric Chinese restaurant this time! Usually when I think of a Chinese restaurant, I picture the casual jjajangmyeon-and-jjamppong kind of place, but 'Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch' felt a bit different✨ The soft lighting and wood-toned interior blended together to feel more like Chinese dining than a typical Chinese restaurant! Here's my review of the gochu-ganjjajang (spicy black bean noodles), seafood jjamppong rice, and yuxiang eggplant👐🏻

## An exterior and interior that don't feel like a typical Chinese restaurant

![Exterior of the Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-03-pu3ad-900.webp)

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch sits near Dalmaji-gil, and even the exterior feels distinctly different from a typical Chinese restaurant. Open the wood-toned entrance door and you'll find a waiting area with an atmosphere that makes you wonder, 'Is this really a Chinese restaurant?'

![Calm-atmosphere interior of the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-05-ifuvx-900.webp)

![Window seating with a large picture window](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-06-18h5p-900.webp)

The interior overall felt calm yet exotic! Chinese music was playing too, so it felt like being in China. The window side has a large picture window that lets in plenty of sunlight, and the view of trees and buildings kept it from feeling stuffy! The round pendant lights hanging from the ceiling seemed to make the space feel even warmer. The tables and chairs were also neatly arranged, so it seemed like a good spot for a date, a family meal, or a dinner with friends✨

## What I ordered and the prices

![Tablet ordering menu screen at the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-08-r1c2s-900.webp)

You can order using the tablet placed at each table! The menu is made up of various dishes and noodle options!

- Gochu-ganjjajang, large (₩12,000)
- Seafood jjamppong rice (₩14,000)
- Yuxiang eggplant (₩22,000)

I was craving something spicy, so I ordered gochu-ganjjajang and seafood jjamppong rice, and since I usually get sweet and sour pork, I wanted to try a special dish instead, so I also ordered the yuxiang eggplant!👍🏻

![Complimentary tea, pickled radish, and pickled mustard greens](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-09-1orps-900.webp)

Once you sit down, you get cold jasmine tea(?), pickled radish, and pickled mustard greens.

### Gochu-ganjjajang (large) — big chunks of meat and a sharp kick

![Table setting with the large gochu-ganjjajang](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-10-ep4yf-900.webp)

![Gochu-ganjjajang sauce with big chunks of onion and meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-11-q3xbp-900.webp)

First up, the gochu-ganjjajang! It had big chunks of onion and meat, so it had a nice bite to it, and the chili peppers cut through the richness! Mixing the noodles well with the sauce, you get both the deep savory flavor of jjajang and the sharpness of the chili together, which was great! If you find the usual greasiness of Chinese food a bit much, this gochu-ganjjajang might actually suit you well👏🏻

![Rice mixed into the ganjjajang sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-12-dxa41-900.webp)

After finishing the noodles, I mixed a bit of rice into the ganjjajang! I was surprised the whole time by just how much big, chunky meat there was!

### Seafood jjamppong rice — deep red color, cool broth

![Seafood jjamppong rice with red broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-13-8sw72-900.webp)

![Seafood and vegetables in the jjamppong broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-14-1i5j8-900.webp)

I ordered the seafood jjamppong with rice instead of noodles! The broth's red color was quite deep, so I expected a spicy hot flavor, and the cool, clean taste from the seafood came through well in the broth🔥 It had seafood and vegetables mixed in together, so it was fun picking out different bits and pieces as I ate!

### Yuxiang eggplant — crisp outside, moist inside

![Plate of yuxiang eggplant topped with sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji/haeundae-chinese-chili-jjajang-eohyang-gaji-15-1194t-900.webp)

This was personally one of the dishes I was most looking forward to! As in the photo, it's eggplant fried until crispy and then topped generously with yuxiang sauce — the outside was crunchy while the eggplant inside was soft and moist! Eating it together with the onion and sauce added even more texture✨ I think even people who normally don't like eggplant dishes could enjoy this one!

## Final thoughts — a good Chinese restaurant for a Haeundae date

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch felt less like a typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant and more like a place where you can enjoy the atmosphere along with the food! The interior was clean and the lighting soft, making it easy to chat comfortably over a meal, and the window seats let in plenty of sunlight, so it's a nice spot to visit during the day too✨ I tried the gochu-ganjjajang, seafood jjamppong rice, and yuxiang eggplant, and each had its own charm, so it was great for ordering several dishes to share! If you're looking for a stylish Chinese restaurant or a good date spot on Haeundae's Dalmaji-gil, be sure to check this one out!
