## In short

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a restaurant-style Chinese eatery on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. Visiting with a partner, the writer ordered beef brisket jjamppong (spicy noodle soup), shrimp fried rice, and black vinegar sweet and sour pork, with chilled herbal tea served before the meal. Soft lighting and generous table spacing made it a good pick for a date or family meal when craving Chinese food.

A few days ago my partner and I were in the Haeundae area and I suddenly wanted Chinese food, so we stopped by here! Usually when I think of a Chinese restaurant, I picture somewhere casual for a quick bowl of jjajangmyeon or jjamppong. But this place had a vibe more like a proper restaurant than a typical Chinese joint — more polished from the start.

This is my honest review of Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, located on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae. Today I'm sharing our story of enjoying a really nice-atmosphere Chinese meal at this Haeundae spot :)

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch sits along Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae. The surroundings feel different from a typical Chinese restaurant plopped in the middle of a commercial strip, so I was already excited before even walking in!! Even the exterior looked more modern and polished than your average Haeundae Chinese restaurant. It struck me as a great spot for a date or family dinner when you want a bit more atmosphere with your meal.

## A dining room comfortable for two or a group

Walking inside Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, the tables were set up with plenty of space. It looked great for a two-person visit like ours, and also seemed well suited to a bigger group ordering a variety of dishes to share.

The lighting at Bueokgan Chinese is on the softer side, so instead of the usual casual Chinese-restaurant feel, it came across more like a relaxed proper restaurant :) That's probably why it felt like such a good fit for a date, like the one we were on.

Even before stepping into Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, this Haeundae Chinese restaurant, the overall look was so neatly put together that it made a great first impression. The calm yet sophisticated atmosphere personally won me over.

## The menu and the three dishes we ordered

Looking over the menu at this Haeundae favorite, there was a wide range — from meal staples like jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and fried rice to shareable dishes like sweet and sour pork, yuringi (crispy fried chicken with sauce), and shrimp dishes. After some deliberation, we went with one jjamppong, one fried rice, and sweet and sour pork as our shared dish!

- Beef brisket jjamppong
- Shrimp fried rice
- Black vinegar sweet and sour pork

Order placed!

Pretty tableware stamped with the Bueokgan name arrived along with pickled radish and jjajangmyeon pickles — the standard sides for Chinese food. And then, a chilled herbal tea came out too. It was nice to sip on while waiting for the main dishes :)

## Shrimp fried rice: plump shrimp, fluffy texture

Bueokgan Chinese's shrimp fried rice! We ordered a rice dish to go along with the jjamppong. Fried rice might look like a basic menu item, but when it's done well at a good spot, the smoky wok flavor and fluffy texture keep pulling you back haha.

![A spoonful of fried rice with plump shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/haeundae-dalmaji-chinese-couple-herbal-tea/haeundae-dalmaji-chinese-couple-herbal-tea-16-e07fh-966.webp)

The shrimp in the fried rice were really big and plump, adding both texture and flavor depth. The rice and egg looked like they'd been stir-fried over high heat, giving it that nice fluffy quality. It wasn't too greasy or heavy — more clean and savory. Totally hit my taste!!

## What does the black vinegar sweet and sour pork taste like?

And then the dish I was really looking forward to — black vinegar sweet and sour pork! It's a bit different from the usual sweet version.

True to its name, the black vinegar sauce gave the dish a more distinctive flavor. Sweet and sour pork usually brings sweetness to mind first, but this one added a tangy edge to that sweetness for a deeper, more complex flavor!

Taking a bite, the outside was crispy and the pork loin inside was juicy — a great combination. Freshly fried, crispy, and warm sweet and sour pork might just be the main event of any Chinese restaurant meal~~

Thanks to the black vinegar sauce, the sweet-and-tangy aroma and flavor paired really well with the crunchy raw onion served alongside. It made the dish easy to keep eating without getting tired of it :)

## The broth of the beef brisket jjamppong

Beef brisket jjamppong 🍜 Unlike a regular seafood jjamppong, this one uses beef brisket, so I was curious how the broth would taste. Even at a glance, the ingredients looked generously piled in, making it look hearty right away~!

Tasting the broth first is the golden rule! It had a spicy, sharp kick, and the broth itself went down clean rather than feeling heavy or greasy. Personally, I'd describe it as a rich meat broth layered with that sharp jjamppong spice! If you like a spicy broth, this one should hit the spot.

The broth soaked well into the noodles, and eating the beef brisket alongside cut through any greasiness — an addictive combination!

Sometimes jjamppong broth can be overly intense or leave your mouth feeling heavy afterward, but this beef brisket jjamppong was spicy while finishing relatively clean :)

## To sum up

Overall, the food came in generous portions and the atmosphere was different enough from a typical Chinese restaurant to leave a lasting impression. It's a great spot when you want to enjoy Chinese food in a clean, polished setting. Whether for a date, a family dinner, or ordering a variety of dishes with friends, I'd highly recommend this Haeundae Chinese restaurant!
