## In short

Songjeongok Songjeong Main Branch is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-course) restaurant in a wooden hanok building, one minute from Songjeong Beach in Haeundae, Busan. Every table was full even just after the lunch rush, and the cream abalone-innards sauce pot rice set arrived with gabrisal bossam (boiled pork wraps), seasoned raw crab and cockle salad, ending with sungnyung (scorched-rice tea). Songjeongok feels less like a formal banquet and more like a relaxed family spread, which makes it an easy choice when you are bringing parents along.

So many people are heading to Songjeong in Busan these days. I often go over to Songjeong Beach for some fresh air, and I finally made it to a Korean restaurant there I'd had my eye on for a while — Songjeongok. Hanjeongsik (Korean set-course meal) can sometimes feel a bit formal and stiff, but this place felt more like a relaxed family spread than anything fussy, which I liked even more.

## Where is Songjeongok Songjeong Main Branch and how do you get there?

Songjeongok is at 54-1 Songjeonggwangeogol-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, with dining on both the 1st and 2nd floors. It's really just a minute from Songjeong Beach, so it's easy to get to. From Songjeong Station on the Donghae Line it's about 5 minutes by car or 15 minutes on foot. Coming in along the beach road, pass KT Songjeong Tower and go about 100m further — it's right next to Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Songjeong branch, just before the Songjeong underpass, so it's hard to miss. By bus, take 185 from the stop in front of Exit 7 of Jangsan Station and get off at KT Songjeong Tower — just a 3-minute walk from there.

It's a wooden hanok-style building that stands out even from a distance. The roofline and eaves are pretty enough to make for good photos too.

## Songjeongok hours, break time and parking

Hours are 11:00 to 22:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00 — I'd recommend avoiding that window. We went a bit after the lunch rush and the place was still completely full, which made it clear why it's known as a Songjeong favorite.

There's plenty of parking space right in front, so no need to worry if you're driving.

## Inside the wooden hanok building and the 2nd-floor group room

Stepping inside is another moment of admiration — green plants hang from the low wooden beams, and the warm lighting makes the whole space feel cozy. Wooden tables are scattered with antique-style props, so even if you're just there for a meal, it's genuinely nice to look around. It felt comfortable enough to bring elderly parents, and there were baby chairs too, with quite a few families with kids around.

Heading up to the 2nd floor, the mood shifts and it's clearly well suited for group gatherings.

## What is on the Songjeongok menu?

To sum up the menu: the abalone pot rice set comes with freshly cooked abalone pot rice and tender gabrisal bossam (pork belly wrap). The abalone seafood hinoki (cypress box) steam set is the premium option that lets you try all of Songjeongok's signature dishes. Whole octopus can also be added on, so you can pick based on group size or what you're in the mood for. Extra servings of pot rice or bossam are also available, so there's no need to worry about portions.

## Side dishes served with the cream abalone-innards sauce pot rice set

We ordered the cream abalone-innards sauce pot rice set, and before the main dish arrived, the banchan (side dishes) were set out first — and the quality was noticeably a cut above. Every single dish looked appetizing.

There was a plump shrimp salad topped with a bright dressing. Eating it with the crisp shredded cabbage made everything feel refreshing.

There was also stir-fried squid topped with sliced green onion — this would honestly work great as a drinking snack too.

Centered around the gabrisal bossam (pork belly wrap), the spread was filled out with seasoned squid, seasoned cockles, radish salad, ssamjang (dipping sauce), minced seasoning, garlic, tofu, and seasoned crab — all arranged colorfully. Just looking at it, you could tell how much care went in.

There was a generous portion of seasoned crab, and the sauce on it was seriously delicious.

## Gabrisal bossam, seasoned raw crab and cockle salad

The gabrisal bossam (pork belly wrap) glistened with a beautiful sheen. Sprinkled with sesame seeds, it was mouth-watering just to look at. The pork was more tender than I could have imagined.

Wrapping it up and eating it felt like the perfect combo of feeling healthy and enjoying an amazing bossam at the same time.

There were also side dishes to eat alongside the bossam.

Seasoned squid, seasoned cockles, radish salad, white kimchi, green onion kimchi, and tofu — all dishes that paired perfectly with the bossam.

The savory doenjang (soybean paste) soup with tofu and zucchini wasn't overpowering at all — it had a comforting flavor that soothed the stomach.

## The main course: abalone pot rice in cream abalone-innards sauce

Finally, the main pot rice arrived. It's made with rice freshly milled every morning, and you could really tell — the sheen was different, and one spoonful brought out a clear sweetness and nuttiness. Then, mixing in the cream sauce made from abalone innards across the rice and taking the first bite — the visual alone was incredible. Looking at the photos again makes me want to eat it all over.

Nuttiness and umami hit at the same time, and it immediately made sense why this is the signature dish.

![A spoonful of abalone pot rice topped with cockles](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-ok-abalone-hot-pot-rice-late-lunch/songjeong-ok-abalone-hot-pot-rice-late-lunch-24-1xuvg-900.webp)

Adding cockles on top gave it a fun chewiness too, and the flavor of the sea filled my mouth.

Finishing with the scorched-rice tea at the end left me feeling completely full and properly looked after.

## Who is Songjeongok best for?

It's rare to find a place in Songjeong that serves such a carefully put-together spread. The pot rice alone is worth the visit — the rice itself is on another level, and every side dish shows real care, which makes you feel genuinely well taken care of. It works well for family gatherings or bringing your parents along, and the atmosphere feels fitting for business meals too, so it's a versatile Songjeong pot rice restaurant. Next time, I definitely want to try the abalone seafood hinoki (cypress box) steam set.
