## The Chinese restaurant we stop at on our Marine City walks

My family goes for walks in Marine City a lot — one of our favorite cafés, Momos, is here, and there are so many good places to eat that we often grab brunch, or come for jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles).

This is a place we've been back to before, though I think this is my first time reviewing it on the blog. They have a baby chair and baby tableware, and the service is great, so I never felt self-conscious bringing a baby!

## Parking and service at Bueokgan, an ocean-view Chinese restaurant

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch has such a good view that it's great for bringing guests, and since there's a grace period for roadside parking right out front, it's easy to just pop in — I use it a lot for casual meetups with friends. There aren't that many Chinese restaurants with an ocean view, and this one has reasonable prices, a great view, and good food, so I can confidently recommend it.

Oh, and the staff are very friendly. I've only been on weekends, but the male staff on weekends were always kind.

## Booking the private room at Bueokgan: which seats suit a baby?

Bueokgan Chinese has a room like this too, and you can book it through Naver, so if you're coming as a group, book ahead. I always sit by the window like this — the baby gets to watch the boats and the sea, which is really nice.

The menu has both cooked dishes and rice/noodle meals — haha — and there's a separate group set menu too, so you can eat affordably starting with ₩8,000 jjajangmyeon. There's also a course menu, which is good for group gatherings or things like a formal family meeting. The prices really are a big draw.

## Ganjajang with a poached egg: how are the noodles?

We always seem to order jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk. I've tried the ganjajang, the regular jjajang, and the spicy jjajang, and personally I like the ganjajang best.

It's unusual that they use a poached egg (in Busan, ganjajang traditionally comes with a fried egg) — but if you pop the yolk and mix it in right away, you lose that sense of eating egg alongside the noodles, so I'd recommend eating some right after popping it, haha. Also the onions in the ganjajang are genuinely delicious — if you're not into spicy food, I'd absolutely recommend the ganjajang. It's made by quickly stir-frying pork belly and onion, so there's a crunchy bite to it, haha. If you prefer a sauce that's been simmered longer, the regular jjajangmyeon works too — kids seem to eat the regular jjajangmyeon more easily since it's softer, more like the classic version. And the gochu ganjajang is pork belly and onion in a chunjang (black bean paste) base with cheongyang chili and scallion oil added for a spicy kick — I thought that one was good too.

The noodles are on the thicker side, which might be a matter of taste, but even though they're thick, they don't taste overly floury and go really well with the sauce!

## Beef brisket jjamppong, better than the jjajangmyeon

Personally, I think the jjamppong (spicy noodle soup) is even better than the jjajangmyeon. I usually prefer seafood jjamppong and I'm not really a fan of beef brisket jjamppong, but here, the beef brisket version is delicious too.

What I ordered was the official dish called beef brisket jjamppong, where the broth naturally soaks up that distinctive beef brisket flavor for a rich, deep taste. There's also a separate seafood jjamppong with mussels, octopus, clams, and shrimp for a refreshing, briny flavor.

Because honestly, the broth is delicious, haha. It's a little spicy with a clean, sharp kick that I really love. So every time I go, I debate whether to order jjamppong or not, but I always end up ordering it — because of the broth.

## Cotton-soft tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) that kids love

I see a lot of other people order kkanpunggi (crispy chicken), but for us it's always tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) — mostly because of the baby. My kid loves tangsuyuk, and this one has that soft, cotton-like texture that was so trendy a while back.

It's not chewy or slightly tough like the sticky-rice-batter style tangsuyuk — instead the batter is soft and melts in your mouth, so kids eat it happily. My kid basically buries their face in it, haha.

There are so many good cafés in this neighborhood too, so it's a good place to head to when you can't decide what to eat. The prices are good and it's a local favorite in Marine City, so there are a lot of neighborhood regulars. The weather's nice right now too, so walking the whole length of Marine City would make for a genuinely pleasant stroll.
