## In short

Sammi-jip is a kimchi pork belly restaurant cooked in a cauldron lid in the Cheongna 4-danji dining alley of Seohae, Incheon. Ordering Korean beef brisket (chadolbagi) with a son, minari (water dropwort) and several kinds of mushrooms were grilled together in the meat's own fat on a big griddle, and a spicy garlic-and-cheongyang-chili sauce paired especially well with the brisket. With sunlight pouring in through floor-to-ceiling windows and a vent at every table, it worked well for a family meal with a kid too.

I went to Cheongna and stopped by Sammi-jip (삼미집) for meat :) It's a kimchi pork belly place cooked in a cauldron lid, but this time we had Korean beef brisket (chadolbagi). I went with my son, and the place was clean and brighter than I expected — I liked that.

## Sammi-jip location and parking

📍 Sammi-jip — 1F, 18 Cheongna-canal-ro 233beon-gil, Seo-gu, Incheon. It's inside the Cheongna 4-danji dining alley.

The storefront is visible right from outside so it wasn't hard to find. For parking, you can use a nearby alternative lot, and they said parking support is available if you're dining there. There seemed to be room for about 4 cars right in front.

It runs on a reservation system, so it's better to book ahead before visiting.

## Inside the restaurant

![Table at Sammi-jip fitted with a vent](https://img.superchart.com/images/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip-05-x8h1y-900.webp)

When I hear "BBQ restaurant" I picture a dim, smoky spot, but this was the total opposite. Sunlight pours in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, so it's bright and clean. When we visited it wasn't crowded, so we could take photos comfortably :)

The spacing between tables was decent too, and each table had its own vent installed. Ordering is done through the tablet at the table. These things are really convenient these days haha.

## Korean beef brisket loaded with minari and mushrooms

We ordered the Korean beef brisket. The moment it came out, I photographed it before anything else lol. Ah, well, I always take photos of food haha.

They arrange the brisket in a ring around a big griddle, with minari and mushrooms piled in the center! Served like that, it looked seriously appetizing. I especially loved how much mushroom there was.

![Minari and various mushrooms piled in the center of the griddle](https://img.superchart.com/images/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip-07-12bfw-1200.webp)

There wasn't just one kind of mushroom but several varieties, so it was fun picking through them, and grilling them in the brisket fat made them delicious 🍄 The minari (water dropwort) comes in a generous amount too.

### How to grill brisket well

The brisket was laid out so prettily at first that I wanted to grill it just as it was, but... we ended up taking all the meat off right away haha. Brisket is thin so it cooks fast, and if you overcook it, it can get tough.

![Korean beef brisket taken off the griddle](https://img.superchart.com/images/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip-08-6d8re-900.webp)

So each time we wanted to eat, we'd put one piece on and grill it lightly. Eating it this way was so much better. Eating it right as the brisket fat starts to render out — soft, savory... Korean beef brisket really is something ❤️ Grill one, eat it, put on another...

![Grilling brisket one piece at a time](https://img.superchart.com/images/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip-09-153oo-900.webp)

A bit of a hassle, but it's better if you want to eat it deliciously haha. We also grilled the minari and mushrooms that came with it in the meat fat. The mushrooms especially were delicious. If you like mushrooms, you'll probably love this setup.

Eating just meat the whole time can get a little greasy, but pairing it with minari added a nice fragrance and made it feel much cleaner.

## Spicy sauce with garlic and cheongyang chili

This was so good haha. It has garlic and cheongyang chili in it, and it's spicier than you'd expect. Grilling a piece of brisket, topping it with minari, and dipping it in the sauce — totally my style.

The savory brisket and the spicy sauce went really well together. It was a bit too spicy for my son though. So he ate the meat and mushrooms without the sauce, while I dipped mine generously in it 😂

## Banchan and wrap set-up

![Basic banchan and wrap vegetables at Sammi-jip](https://img.superchart.com/images/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip-13-1vfow-900.webp)

![Brisket wrapped in lettuce and perilla leaf](https://img.superchart.com/images/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip-14-1gzak-900.webp)

![Seasoned bean sprouts, scallion strips and other side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip/cheongna-hanwoo-chadolbagi-minari-sammijip-15-12viu-900.webp)

Lettuce and perilla leaves come out along with basic banchan like seasoned bean sprouts and scallion strips. If you like wraps, stuffing them with brisket and minari for a big bite is delicious too.

## If you're going with kids

Sammi-jip's interior was clean, and best of all, getting to eat Korean beef brisket together with minari and several kinds of mushrooms was great. My favorite combination was definitely brisket + minari + the spicy sauce.

If you're going with a kid, the sauce might be a bit too spicy, so it's probably best to grill the kid's meat separately without it. It worked fine for a family meal with a child, like we did :) If you're craving meat in Cheongna, especially if you love brisket, give this place a try.
