On a day I had plans in Hongdae, I was trying to decide between beef and pork for dinner... and ended up at Gogikkun Gim Chunbae Hongdae Main Branch because they let you order both together as a set.

Hongdae has so many BBQ restaurants that choosing one is honestly harder than deciding what to eat. Above all, one of the best things about this place is that you can come for samgyeopsal in Hongdae and end up enjoying hanwoo alongside it too.

## What comes in the hanwoo and hanpork set at Gogikkun Gim Chunbae

And finally, the meat arrived! Looking at the photo again, isn't that marbling gorgeous? Haha.

My set came with clearly marbled beef and thick-cut pork together, plated alongside big shiitake mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, and corn — a genuinely appetizing plate.

Gogikkun Gim Chunbae Hongdae Main Branch currently sells ogyeopsal, pork neck, and hanwoo cuts like salchisal and saeusal, along with sets that let you eat hanwoo and hanpork together. For someone like me who likes trying a bit of everything, this kind of combo is way more fun than sticking to one cut^^

The beef especially had striking marbling as you can see in the photos, and the pork had a good fat-to-meat ratio that made it taste rich and savory once grilled. ## Asahi draft beer with the grilled meat

You can't have meat without a cold beer haha, so I ordered an Asahi draft too.

The glass came out nicely chilled with a good head of foam, and just seeing it lifted my mood before I'd even started eating^^ Take a bite of fatty meat, then a sip of cold draft, and your palate feels reset — meat and beer really are a perfect combo.

## Chadol doenjang jjigae: hot, savory brisket soybean paste stew

I'm the type who always craves a hot soup while eating meat haha, so I ordered the chadol dwenjang jjigae (beef brisket soybean paste stew) too.

It arrived bubbling in a stone pot, which already looked promising. Onion, green onion, and tofu filled it out, and it was great to spoon up between bites of meat.

Eating meat nonstop can get a little greasy, and that's when a spoonful of dwenjang jjigae really helps you enjoy the meat even more^^ It also goes well with rice, so if you're visiting for samgyeopsal in Hongdae, it's worth ordering as a side.

## Water or spicy cold noodles? Banban naengmyeon serves both in one bowl

The menu item I personally found most fun was banban naengmyeon (half-and-half cold noodles). The bowl itself is divided down the middle, with water naengmyeon on one side and bibim (spicy mixed) naengmyeon on the other.

That's a surprisingly good idea. Hadn't seen it in a while haha. You always agonize over this at a BBQ place, right?

Here, no need to choose — just eat both^^ The refreshing broth of the water naengmyeon cleanses your palate, then a bite of the sweet-spicy bibim naengmyeon, then back to the meat — the combination worked really well.

## Kkakdukbap rice, worth ordering even when full

I was already pretty full after the meat, noodles, and stew, but seeing the fried rice appear, I just couldn't pass it up haha. Last up: kkakdugi-bap fried rice!

It came out generously piled in a wide pan, topped with dried seaweed flakes and green onion. Fried rice after meat is basically dessert, isn't it^^ Am I the only one who thinks that? Haha. Spicy yet savory, mixed with the seaweed flakes, and my spoon kept going back for more.

## What was good and what fell short at Gogikkun Gim Chunbae

Having eaten here myself, I'd describe this place less as just a Hongdae samgyeopsal spot and more as a BBQ restaurant where you can enjoy hanwoo, hanpork, and full meal menu items all in one visit.

It was especially good for when you want to try several types of meat at once, and I liked having lots of side dish options after the meat — from chadol dwenjang jjigae to banban naengmyeon to kkakdugi-bap. The banban naengmyeon idea in particular was great — no more agonizing between Team Water Naengmyeon and Team Bibim Naengmyeon haha.

That said, ordering hanwoo on top pushes the bill higher than a typical samgyeopsal-only restaurant, so this feels better suited to a day when you want to eat properly rather than a light meal. Other user reviews echo this too — positive on the taste of the meat, but also noting the price point.

If you're meeting friends for dinner in Hongdae, on a date, and searching for Hongdae restaurants, and you want more than just samgyeopsal — including hanwoo — this place is worth adding to your list^^ It was a proper dinner out: Hongdae samgyeopsal, a cold Asahi draft, and finishing up with banban naengmyeon and fried rice haha.
