Today I'm introducing a pretty long-standing favorite of mine — Yeongwolae Gondre in Ansan! I've been coming here regularly since my college days. Even after a while away, it's still just as good, and not simply because the menu is varied — every single dish is made with care and served generously. From the healthy gondre rice (mountain thistle rice) to the hearty banchan, stir-fried pork, and grilled mackerel — here's my review of Yeongwolae Gondre!

The lotus root salad paired nicely with a nutty sesame dressing, and the deodeok came seasoned with a spicy kick.

The yangjangpi was really delicious! The sharp tang of the mustard sauce was addictive, and the crunch of the bell pepper and cucumber kept me reaching for more. The mountain lettuce salad also felt special — not something you eat every day.

The heart and soul of Yeongwolae Gondre — the gondre rice! It's cooked with fresh gondre (mountain thistle) and finished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top. The gondre's aroma is subtle, and it felt like a genuinely healthy meal. I love adding a splash of soy sauce and mixing it all together — and it's even better with the doenjang stew stirred in!

### Stir-fried pork

A spicy-sweet gochujang base with a hint of char-grilled bulgogi feel, and above all, a real charcoal-grilled smokiness came through. That's what made it more addictive than an ordinary stir-fried pork. I personally loved wrapping it in lettuce, but eating it with the gondre rice was the best combination.

### Rustic strong doenjang paste

Packed with tofu, vegetables, mushrooms, and more, so the flavor was deep and savory. Despite the rich taste, it wasn't overly salty — I liked that even more.

The flesh wasn't dry at all — it was soft and moist. One bite and your mouth is full of flaky fish!

Being able to try three dishes at once in the Yeongwol Muleungdowon set was great for the taste, and for the value too.
