I’ll decide for you right now. Get the pork ribs!!!! This was actually my first time at a pork-rib place, but it immediately made it onto my personal best-restaurant list while I was eating. (All the friends I went with agreed!) I arrived around 6:40 PM on a Friday and snagged the very last table! We ordered three portions of soy-marinated jjokgalbi (pork back ribs) and one portion of seasoned jjokgalbi. Super-delicious chicken porridge and corn cheese, plus pork skin and potatoes. I’m not exactly sure whether the pork skin and potatoes depend on the number of orders or come per person, but they gave us one piece each, and they were perfect drinking snacks before the ribs arrived. Major points for thoughtfulness. Chicken porridge is great for settling your stomach before drinking, you know... what more is there to say? Could this be the owner’s scheme to make us drink more??? We happily knocked back our first glasses with pork skin and chicken porridge. Looking around, the customers covered a really wide range of ages. There were lots of younger people, but I also saw plenty from the mom-and-dad generation. I pay attention to age groups when I judge a good restaurant, haha. When it draws all kinds of people, not just young people, it feels like a real local favorite, right? (Me pretending to be sharp is cute.) Anyway, one look and this place!! Isn’t that basically proof it’s good?! I was already so excited before the ribs came out >.< ## For pork ribs, wear the plastic glove on the outside And then comes one of the pleasures of eating pork ribs: gloves. They provide cotton work gloves and plastic gloves, raising the eternal either-or question: plastic gloves inside vs. outside. At Ppoppo Jjokgalbi in Hapjeong, they tell you to wear the plastic glove on the outside ^^ They said the cotton glove would get dirty because the meat is marinated. But when I ate shrimp a few days ago, the shrimp lady told me to wear the plastic one inside. (If you disagree, I’m right lol.) Just looking at them made me drool. The ribs came par-cooked, so we were told we could put them on the grill briefly and eat them right away. It felt like our food took a little while after ordering, but the restaurant was full and perhaps that was because the ribs came par-cooked. Pork ribs can sometimes have that distinctive smell, so I was a little worried. But there is absolutely no need to worry here. The marinade isn’t overly sweet or salty either, so you keep eating them like they’re addictive.. Cheese is always the answer~ I love cheesy steamed egg so much. Are there people out there debating whether to order steamed egg at a meat restaurant? (If you go with me, we’ll order it every time ^-^.) Anyway! Order it.
