## In short

Heui Huam is a Korean cooking bar (요리주점) on the first floor at 71 Dutubawi-ro, in a Huam-dong alley in Yongsan, Seoul. On this visit the order was Egg in Hell and gochujang rosé pasta with a bottle of wine and a highball, and what stood out in both dishes was the smoky, charred flavor that hit first. Rather than coming to Heui Huam just for the mood, order the pasta and Egg in Hell together.

Looking for a place in Huam-dong that's more than just good vibes — somewhere the food actually holds up too — I ended up at Heui Huam.

This time I ordered Egg in Hell and gochujang rosé pasta, and paired them with bottle wine and a highball.

From the start it didn't feel like a typical Western-style restaurant.

From the signboard to the tabletops, the lighting was low and the colors were bold, setting up exactly the kind of night-time mood where you want one more drink with your meal.

That dusk atmosphere was just so good...

## Where is Heui Huam, and can you park? The black signboard in a Huam-dong alley

Heui Huam's address is 71 Dutubawi-ro, 1st floor, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Following the alleys of Huam-dong, you spot the black standing signboard first, listing menu items like Heui pasta and Egg in Hell.

If you're driving, it's better to plan ahead.

Parking was difficult when I visited. If you're planning to drink even lightly, public transit or a taxi makes for a much easier route.

## Green neon and low lighting: inside Heui Huam

Stepping inside Heui, green neon and orange-toned lighting set the mood. It leaned more toward a place for slow eating and conversation than a brightly lit restaurant.

Even though it serves Western-style food, the atmosphere didn't feel forced. It was a space where the colors of the table flowed naturally together with the food and drinks placed on it.

## What to order at Heui Huam: spicy pasta and Egg in Hell

On Heui's menu, the Heui pasta is listed as gochujang rosé, and Egg in Hell appears alongside it. This time I ordered both.

The gochujang rosé pasta stood out for having a charred, smoky flavor come through first, rather than being a style where the cream dominates. The spicy sauce and noodles didn't feel separate from each other, and it went in a different direction from a typical rosé pasta.

## Bottle wine and a highball with the food

At Heui, I ordered bottle wine and a highball together. Rather than the food hitting hard all at once, it was a good combination for alternating between the pasta and Egg in Hell while drinking.

The wine menu was also set up so you could choose by the bottle. Prices and availability can change, so if there's a specific wine you want, it's worth checking before you visit.

## Gochujang rosé pasta: the smoky flavor is the point

Heui's gochujang rosé pasta came out with pasta, bread, and a soft-boiled egg all on the plate together. It looks generously sauced even in photos, and eating it in person, the gochujang rosé sauce with its smoky char was clearly the centerpiece.

It's the kind of dish where you end up using the bread to not leave any sauce behind. If you like a rich, bold sauce, this pasta is the one to pick first.

## Egg in Hell: eat it with the bread

Heui's Egg in Hell came out as a hot pan dish with cheese and egg mingling over tomato sauce. Bread came with it, good for scooping up the sauce, and this dish also had that smoky char that made it even better.

I wondered if it would overlap with the pasta, but the two dishes had distinct characters. The pasta had the spiciness of gochujang rosé, while Egg in Hell offered the clear fun of tomato sauce paired with bread.

## What else is on the Heui Huam menu

Heui's menu also lists gambas al ajillo, Italian mussel soup, and dakbokkeum (spicy stir-fried chicken) alongside the pasta and Egg in Hell. With wine, highball, and beer available too, it looked easy to match everyone's preferences in a group.

Country of origin labeling was also noted separately on the menu. That said, what I actually ate this visit was just Egg in Hell and the gochujang rosé pasta, so I'm planning to check out the other dishes on a future visit.

## What kind of night suits Heui Huam?

If you're in Huam-dong looking for a quiet drink paired with a proper meal, Heui fits well.

Rather than going just for the atmosphere, I'd recommend ordering the gochujang rosé pasta and Egg in Hell together.

Just keep in mind that parking wasn't easy. Travel light, order rich — that combination suited Heui best.
