## In short

52 Degree Kalguksu Oido Main Branch is a Korean seafood-and-noodle restaurant on Oido-ro in Siheung, Gyeonggi. Abalone, blue crab, shrimp, octopus, vegetables, meat and dumplings simmer together on a hot pan, and kalguksu (hand-cut noodles) go in at the end to finish the meal, with staff trimming the blue crab so it is easy to eat. Pre-meal barley rice, two kinds of kimchi and buchujeon (chive pancake) made 52 Degree Kalguksu feel like a full course rather than a single dish.

When you think of Oido, after watching the sea you can't skip a seafood meal haha. This time I visited 52 Degree Kalguksu Oido Main Branch, where you can pile a pan full of clams, abalone, shrimp, crab and octopus, then finish it off with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). It was the perfect combo for when you want seafood but also can't give up noodles.

The exterior had a distinctive Jeju vibe, decorated with a stone wall and dolhareubang (stone grandfather statues).

It's a good place to stop after a walk or drive around Oido, and works well for a family meal or a hearty get-together with friends.

## What is the inside of 52 Degree Kalguksu like?

52 Degree Kalguksu Oido Main Branch is spacious, spread across the 1st and 2nd floors. Each table was separated by partitions, giving a nicely divided feel from neighboring tables.

At the center of each table was a cooking area set up for simmering the seafood and broth.

## 52 Degree Kalguksu menu and prices

The menu at 52 Degree Kalguksu included several varieties, including seafood pot kalguksu, seafood pot ramyeon, whole chicken pot kalguksu, large clam pot kalguksu and fresh clam pot kalguksu.

There was a good variety to choose from depending on your taste.

## Pre-meal barley rice and two kinds of kimchi

At 52 Degree Kalguksu, barley rice came out first before the meal. The nutty, chewy texture unique to barley was great for lightly taking the edge off hunger, perfect for nibbling while waiting for the main dish.

![Two kinds of kimchi: napa cabbage and yeolmu](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-seafood-buchujeon/oido-kalguksu-seafood-buchujeon-11-16vei-900.webp)

Alternating between the spicy, crunchy napa cabbage kimchi and yeolmu (young radish) kimchi paired well with the hot soup dishes.

Good kimchi is a must with kalguksu, and I loved that we could taste two kinds depending on our mood haha.

## From the seafood hot pan to the kalguksu finish

The moment it landed on the table, the sheer quantity caught the eye — visually striking from the start.

On the large hot pan, abalone, crab, shrimp, octopus and various clams were piled high, and on one side, napa cabbage, enoki mushrooms, meat and dumplings filled it out generously!

Plump octopus legs were piled on generously too, along with shrimp and crab — you get to taste it all!

As the umami from all the different ingredients built up in the broth, it got deeper in flavor the longer it simmered.

The crab was cleaned for us so it was easy to eat — no wrestling with shells needed, just picking out the meat and enjoying it.

After eating our fill, we added the kalguksu noodles we'd chosen and let them simmer.

The broth was already deeply infused with flavor, and adding the noodles let that clean, refreshing soup soak right in for a perfect finish! Eating our fill of seafood and then finishing with warm kalguksu made the whole meal feel like a proper course haha.

## Buchujeon (chive pancake) on the side at 52 Degree Kalguksu

I also tried the buchujeon (chive pancake) at 52 Degree Kalguksu! Fried to a golden brown, the outside looked appetizingly cooked, and inside it was packed with chives that kept their fragrant flavor.

![Golden-brown buchujeon chive pancake](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-seafood-buchujeon/oido-kalguksu-seafood-buchujeon-22-1c193-900.webp)

The crispy edges and moist center went really well together haha.

## Is 52 Degree Kalguksu in Oido worth the trip?

From the pre-meal barley rice and two kinds of kimchi, to the mountain of seafood and kalguksu, to the golden buchujeon, it was great getting to taste so many dishes haha. If you want to watch the sea in Oido and then enjoy kalguksu with plenty of seafood all in one place, I'd recommend visiting 52 Degree Kalguksu Oido Main Branch!
