Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae-gu, Busan. On the day I was heading to Haeundae during my Busan trip, I was going car-free, so the trip there was pretty long — and since I was making the effort, I wanted something tasty and filling, so I looked up good restaurants.

The place looked clean and had a more modern vibe than the typical Chinese restaurant I picture, so I got instantly curious 🤭 It's called Bueokgan Chinese, and since there were a bunch of restaurants starting with 'Bueokgan' clustered together, that made me even more curious, so I decided to check this one out.

## How far is Bueokgan from the Cheongsapo beach train stop?

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is fairly close to the Cheongsapo stop on the beach train. If you're planning to ride the Blue Line Park sky capsule or the beach train, eating here first and then walking over slowly seems like a good plan.

It's a bit of an uphill walk, but there's a parking lot behind the building, so it should be convenient for anyone driving too.

On the first floor there's Cafe de Bueokgan (still under construction, it seemed?) and Bueokgan Chinese, and Bueokgan itself is on the second floor. We went straight in through the first-floor door.

## Interior and seating: are there baby high chairs and tables for six?

The moment we walked into Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, the clean interior stood out. The colors weren't too saturated, so it felt calm but also fresh. The tables were spaced generously too, so it never felt cramped — comfortable.

The weather was nice so we grabbed a window seat haha. Two- to four-person tables were the most common.

They also had baby high chairs, and outlets scattered around the seats, so an emergency phone charge would be possible too if needed.

There's also seating for 6 or more, good for group gatherings. Naver Reservation is available, so booking ahead during peak hours seems like a smart idea.

## What we ordered: jjajangmyeon, mapo tofu rice bowl, yuxiang eggplant, paihuanggua

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch has quite a varied menu, and looking around at other tables the portions seemed pretty substantial, so I was already satisfied before the food even arrived lol

The food came out pretty fast. We were starving, so that got us eating quickly, which was great. As you can tell from the photos, the portions weren't small either — loved that.

### Jjajangmyeon: less salty, milder than usual

First, the jjajangmyeon. It tasted a little different from the jjajangmyeon we usually eat — less salty and less intense. It came topped with cucumber and egg.

### Mapo tofu rice bowl: finished fast with zhacai on the side

The mapo tofu rice bowl was, of course, impossible not to like. Paired with jjachai (pickled mustard greens), we kept eating and finished it in no time. The mapo tofu had a bit of a bold, spicy-salty kick — delicious. And they gave a generous amount of rice too!

### Paihuanggua: the palate cleanser between rich dishes

The paihuanggua had a nice fragrant cucumber smell, which I loved. Chinese restaurant menus tend to be inevitably oily and a bit heavy, but taking a bite of the cucumber salad between rich dishes wiped away any greasy feeling before it even registered. Glad we ordered it.

### Yuxiang eggplant: what we chose instead of sweet and sour pork

I went back and forth between yuxiang eggplant and sweet and sour pork, but decided — a Chinese restaurant calls for an eggplant dish! — and picked the yuxiang eggplant lol. The raw onion on top kept it clean and not greasy, just like the other dishes. The eggplant fritters were crispy outside and creamy and soft inside, so if you already like fried eggplant, you won't be able to stop eating it 👍🤤

## Is Bueokgan a good Haeundae spot for family and friends?

Above all, the staff were really kind and explained things well, which made for a great atmosphere. If you're looking for somewhere near Haeundae to eat with family or friends, I think Bueokgan Chinese is a solid choice~
