My husband and I went to a Gyodong izakaya for the first time in ages~ Now that the weather has gradually been getting cooler, don’t you suddenly just want to sit outside on a patio with an ice-cold beer🍺? It is open from 18:00 to 02:00 the next day Monday through Friday, and from 17:00 to 02:00 the next day on weekends. Once inside, the Japanese izakaya-style interior was full of cute little decorative touches, so it was fun just looking around. With the soft lighting too, the whole place felt warm and cozy✨ It seemed perfect for settling in with a drink and chatting for ages🤎 And when we went farther inside, the space was much bigger than I expected! The tables were generously spaced too, so it looked like a good spot to visit with a big group of friends or come out for drinks as a group, haha. Best of all, a baseball game was playing on a beam projector on one side. Gyodong Nakwon had it too, so I ordered it right away without a second thought this time, haha🥔🤎 I have no idea why izakaya potato salad is always so delicious. It is perfect for picking at between drinks, and personally it is a menu item I always try to order at an izakaya. The soft potatoes had a savory richness that went so well with beer. Cooking it until it bubbled away right on the table made it look absolutely amazing~ It was loaded with all kinds of vegetables and ingredients, and you could see the broth getting richer as it cooked. One spoonful and the hot, rich broth and ingredients came together in a flavor that was perfect with drinks! My pasta-loving husband debated between Napolitan pasta and crab tomalley pasta for quite a while, but eventually ordered the crab tomalley pasta~ And that was such a good choice👏🏻 The sauce was thick and clung beautifully to the noodles, with the rich, savory flavor of crab tomalley coming through strongly—so delicious🤤 I normally love thick, creamy pasta, so this one was completely my kind of dish. My husband tried it and said, “We did well ordering this,” haha. The two of us polished it off in no time🍝🤎 Is pasta allowed to be this good at a bar…? ## A patio date in cool weather The food was great that day, but what I especially loved was the overall atmosphere. In cool weather like this, sitting on the patio with my husband, eating good food, having a beer and a shot of soju~ It may not seem like much, but I really love moments like these. The weather was cool too, so the patio atmosphere was just perfect that day! As we enjoyed an Asahi draft beer in the cool breeze and worked through one delicious snack after another, we somehow ended up having soju too🍶 Chatting away with my husband over delicious food on the final day of the weekend, I thought, “Ah~ we really wrapped up the weekend properly!”🤎 It is nice for a date for two, and the interior is spacious enough that it also looked good for a group to order a variety of snacks and have drinks together. ### Overall - Taste: ★★★★★ Everything we ordered that day—from the Asahi draft beer and potato salad to the crab tomalley pasta and motsunabe—was delicious overall. I especially loved the thick crab tomalley pasta, and the warming motsunabe was perfect with drinks🤤 - Atmosphere: ★★★★☆ Maybe because the weather was cool that day, the patio atmosphere was really lovely. Having a drink in the cool breeze even lifted my mood.
