## In short

Ryusenso Beomeo Branch is a Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen restaurant in Beomeo-dong, Suseong, Daegu. After a heavy night out, the writer ordered Ryusenso Kara level 1 and katsudon for lunch, stirring two spoonfuls of minced garlic and pepper into the ramen broth. The rich broth turned spicy without feeling greasy, curing the hangover perfectly, and the katsudon rice paired beautifully with the soup.

After enjoying a proper Friday night out, we'd had quite a bit to drink, so at lunch the next day we needed something to cure the hangover. That's when we thought of Ryusenso Beomeo Branch, a well-known spot in Beomeo-dong. I remembered eating deliciously at another Ryusenso branch thanks to its rich broth, and thought, this would be perfect for a hangover cure!! So we headed straight there.

## Parking and exterior of Ryusenso Beomeo, a Beomeo-dong favorite

![Street view near Ryusenso Beomeo Branch and parking guidance](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-03-t85ht-900.webp)

Since it was the weekend, we parked near Suseong-gu Office and walked a bit, but there's also Beomeo Public Parking Lot right nearby. It's free on weekends too, so you don't need to worry much about parking.

![Exterior of Ryusenso Beomeo Branch with the shop sign](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-04-11io8-900.webp)

A clean sign simply reading 'Ryusenso.' We arrived a bit before lunchtime, but as it got closer to noon, customers kept streaming in — clearly a local favorite in Beomeo-dong.

## Interior space, good for solo dining too

Ryusenso Beomeo had that classic ramen shop atmosphere. There's a bar table facing the open kitchen, plus another bar table by the window. It seemed like a lot of solo diners come here too.

![Table seating at Ryusenso Beomeo Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-07-16uzt-900.webp)

Besides the bar tables, there were also several regular table seats. We sat down at one of the tables.

You check the menu on a tablet placed on the table, and you can order and pay right through it too.

## Menu and spice levels at Ryusenso Beomeo

I liked that the ramen lineup was so clean and simple. Tapping the menu description shows you what each dish is. There were also rice bowl options, so we decided to order one noodle dish and one rice dish.

- Ryusenso Kara (level 1)
- Katsudon
- Zero Coke

For reference, Ryusenso Kara lets you choose your spice level, and we went with level 1. They said even level 1 is about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, which seemed just right.

![Pickled ginger, danmuji, and minced garlic set on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-09-6umxv-900.webp)

While waiting for our food, I noticed pickled ginger, danmuji (pickled radish), and minced garlic already set out on the table. The danmuji and pickled ginger were pre-portioned into little dishes.

That minced garlic we saw earlier is meant to be added to the broth to make the ramen even tastier. Our Zero Coke arrived first — Dochi poured it into the glass with style.

Next, the dishes were brought to the table one after another. I liked that everything came out together, and that it didn't take long at all. And honestly, the presentation was just gorgeous ෆ

## Ryusenso Kara level 1, with added minced garlic and pepper

First up, Ryusenso Kara — a spicy Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen. In other words, a spicy version of tonkotsu ramen. I tend to order spicy tonkotsu ramen wherever I go, so naturally I picked Ryusenso Kara here too. The red broth held the noodles, topped with scallions, wood ear mushroom, thick chashu pork, and a soft-boiled egg.

![Ryusenso Kara ramen topped with chashu pork and soft-boiled egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-14-1irdw-900.webp)

I tried the egg first — it was so soft and clean-tasting that I found myself wondering how on earth they make it that way.

![A halved soft-boiled egg from the ramen](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-15-kamw3-m-900.webp)

![Adding pepper and minced garlic to the ramen broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-16-hy798-900.webp)

Right away I added pepper and minced garlic. Two spoonfuls of garlic in, then gave it a good stir -

![Spicy tonkotsu broth mixed with minced garlic](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-17-w1ra3-900.webp)

The broth was rich and savory! You could really taste that signature tonkotsu depth, and with the added spiciness, it wasn't the least bit greasy. The base broth was already tasty, but adding the minced garlic and pepper made it noticeably deeper somehow? If you come to Ryusenso Beomeo, a Beomeo-dong favorite, I really recommend sprinkling in minced garlic and pepper into your ramen.

![Thin ramen noodles lifted with chopsticks](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-18-1d8dn-900.webp)

The noodles had just the right bounce, and being thin, they seemed to soak up the broth even better. Eating it genuinely felt like it was curing my hangover, which made it even better. Like a proper hangover cure, you know?

![Katsudon topped with a thick pork cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-19-1dz99-900.webp)

## The new katsudon, eaten alongside the ramen

Next up, katsudon. Last time I visited Ryusenso, there were no rice bowl dishes, but since katsudon was now on the menu, I ordered it right away. It came topped with a thick pork cutlet that looked delicious just from the sight of it.

![A piece of katsudon pork cutlet dipped in tonkatsu sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-20-1jrsw-900.webp)

I picked up a piece of the pork cutlet first. The breading was thin while the meat itself was thick, giving it the best texture. They also served tonkatsu sauce on the side, and dipping it in was so good -

![Egg rice bowl underneath the katsudon after removing the cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-21-1hep7-900.webp)

After clearing off the pork cutlet, I tried the rice bowl underneath. The thinly laid egg on top looked truly delicious.

![A spoonful of sauce-coated katsudon rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-22-1gtkb-900.webp)

The sauce was coated between every grain of rice, seasoned just right — not too strong. Mix it all together and scoop up a big spoonful, and no more words are needed. A spoonful of rice, then a sip of broth — the perfect combo ෆ We were so glad we ordered one rice dish and one ramen. I thought this place was only good for ramen, but they clearly do rice bowls well too.

![Giving a thumbs up in front of an empty bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon/ryusenso-beomeo-hangover-ramen-katsudon-23-1iftf-900.webp)

Dochi scraped the bowl clean and then gave a spontaneous thumbs up. That meant it was truly delicious ෆ As always, Ryusenso never disappoints no matter when you visit. If you're craving rich, hearty ramen, I recommend Ryusenso Beomeo, a Beomeo-dong favorite.
