## In short

Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap is a pork soup restaurant in Dalseo, Daegu, a two-minute walk from Gamsam Station Exit 3, open until 1am. The writer had lunch there with her dad, ordering the boiled pork rice set (₩12,000) and the spicy gukbap (₩10,000), with free rice and bone broth refills. Clean, no gamey smell in the broth and cool, crisp fresh kimchi make this a solid pick for anyone after tidy, no-fuss gukbap (Korean soup with rice).

Dad and I went to Seonam Market to buy some side dishes, and since I'd heard there was a gukbap (Korean soup with rice) spot near Gamsam Station across from the market, we stopped by for a hearty lunch 🤍

A Duryu-dong / Gamsam Station favorite, open until 1am — here's my review of Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap 🐖

## How far is it from Gamsam Station?

The exterior. It's a 2-minute walk from Gamsam Station Exit 3, tucked in the alley leading toward Gwangjang Coa.

## Inside and the seating

The interior. Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap has a fairly spacious dining room with tables ranging from 2-seaters to 4-seaters, so it looks good for group visits too!

✔️ The restroom is located outside the restaurant

Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap apparently uses no additives at all — they wash and trim domestic pork bones thoroughly multiple times, then simmer them for 1,080 minutes for the broth. You could see them continuously boiling down the bone broth outside the shop, which made me trust the care that goes into it ♥

## Menu and prices

The menu board. It's posted right on the wall, with the origin of ingredients clearly labeled too haha

- Boiled pork rice set ₩12,000 (what I ordered)
- Spicy gukbap ₩10,000 (dad's order)

Rice and bone broth are provided free, which makes it feel even more affordable to eat here 💗

On the table there were instructions on how to enjoy the gukbap best, which seems handy for first-time visitors! There was also a QR code to easily connect to the wifi, which was convenient ㅎ_ㅎ

## The basic table setting and fresh kimchi

Salt, pepper and perilla powder come standard on the table, and the staff brought out salted shrimp, chili paste, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), kimchi, and diced radish kimchi.

You can tell if a gukbap place is good or not by tasting the fresh kimchi (geotjeori) first, right? As soon as it arrived, I tried it first... a little spicy but cool and refreshing!! Dad took one bite and said the gukbap here must be good too, hahaha ★ PASS ★

Something I learned while writing this post — Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap makes their fresh kimchi twice a day, morning and afternoon, using domestic ingredients!! No wonder it was so crisp and refreshing,,,,😛

Our ordered boiled pork rice set and spicy gukbap arrived ლ(╹◡╹ლ)

## How spicy is the spicy gukbap?

First, dad's spicy gukbap had a generous amount of spicy seasoning piled on top, and inside the soup were boiled pork, chili, plus plenty of napa cabbage and dried radish greens (siraegi). They also gave a separate dipping sauce for the siraegi, so you can season it to your taste 🫶🏻

Despite being called 'spicy gukbap,' it wasn't harshly spicy at all — more of a gentle, mild heat, and with the siraegi and cabbage in there the broth had a cool, refreshing taste that was easy to eat without any burden 🧡

## What you get with the ₩12,000 boiled pork rice set

The boiled pork rice set I ordered comes with a plate of boiled pork plus pork bone broth as standard, and the pork alone at ₩12,000 was unbelievably generous in portion — a total win on value for money 🖤 Daegu's best value gukbap, hands down

Just look at how glossy the boiled pork is,,,,ԾㅂԾ,,

![Close-up of a glossy plate of boiled pork](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban-16-16q7v-966.webp)

![Boiled pork topped with spicy chili seasoning](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban-17-g87q6-966.webp)

![A piece of boiled pork dipped in mustard sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban-18-xycv6-966.webp)

### The mustard sauce worked better for me than the ssamjang

They also gave a separate sauce for dipping the pork — mustard-based, sharp yet clean-tasting, and it went really well with the pork ♥ Personally, I liked dipping it in this sauce more than the ssamjang haha

The spicy chili seasoning on top of the pork was also a treat >< Slightly spicy with a savory kick, it paired nicely with the mild pork. They gave lettuce too, so I wrapped some up as ssam,,,,♪(´▽｀)

![A bowl of pork bone broth with no gamey smell](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban-20-1efza-966.webp)

## Is the bone broth refilled for free?

The pork bone broth, carefully simmered with no additives, had zero gamey smell, which made it so easy to eat ㅎ It's delicious on its own, but imagine adding a bit more salted shrimp and salt and mixing in rice... 🤤 Top that with a piece of cool, crisp kimchi~ and a whole bowl of rice disappears - ☆

![Free refill of bone broth with a ladle](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban/daegu-gamsam-pork-soup-sooyuk-baekban-21-7014j-966.webp)

Partway through, both dad and I wanted a bit more broth, so we asked for a refill of the bone broth haha (they even thoughtfully brought us a ladle 🥄). The menu clearly states that bone broth refills are free, so we could ask without any hesitation, which was really nice.

## Final verdict

⭐ With no additives and domestic pork bones simmered for 1,080 minutes, the broth was definitely clean with no gamey smell and rich in flavor ♥ And honestly, isn't a good gukbap place all about the fresh kimchi? The fresh kimchi here is cool and delicious b (I guarantee it)

Since Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap stays open into the early morning hours, it seems perfect for grabbing a hangover cure after drinking nearby at Gwangjang Coa. The staff were also super friendly — if you're looking for a clean, no-gamey-smell pork gukbap spot in Daegu, why not give Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap a visit 🤍
