## In short

Tareudang is a fruit mochi and tart takeout spot tucked in a Hwangnam-dong alley on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju. Its showcase, styled like a cute little food truck, displays a mango brûlée tart alongside fresh mango, peach, and gold kiwi mochi, and splitting one open revealed thin, chewy rice cake bursting with juice instead of feeling heavy. It's a great stop for a sugar boost while wandering Hwangnidang-gil or for picking up a gift box.

## A cute little shop found in a Hwangnidang-gil alley

This was a cute little space I stumbled on while walking through Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju. Strolling slowly through the alley, I was drawn in by a faint sweet smell and just stopped. The stylish sign for Tareudang immediately caught my eye.

The scent of sticky rice cake and fresh fruit brushed past my nose. It felt like a stylish food truck, so it was genuinely fun to browse. The cozy yet clean atmosphere made me feel relaxed the whole time I was there.

## Fruit mochi visuals in the showcase

Eye-catching, colorful fruit mochi filled the display. Peering into the showcase, my heart genuinely raced at the vivid colors.

The pale, chewy mochi wrapped around whole chunks of seasonal fruit looked like a work of art. Lined up like a rainbow, they were a genuine visual treat.

Their round, adorable shapes and glossy sheen made it hard to look away. From the reviews, the fruit inside looked really fresh and generously sized. I stood there for a while, happily agonizing over which one to pick.

## Handmade tarts topped with seasonal fruit

It's not just the mochi — the tart lineup is varied too, so browsing was a joy in itself.

![Tareudang's tart lineup](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyeongju-hwangnidan-gil-tardang-mango-brulee-tart/gyeongju-hwangnidan-gil-tardang-mango-brulee-tart-06-4z6g2-900.webp)

![Mango and brûlée tart](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyeongju-hwangnidan-gil-tardang-mango-brulee-tart/gyeongju-hwangnidan-gil-tardang-mango-brulee-tart-07-12ccd-900.webp)

Fresh fruit was piled generously onto crisply baked pie shells with no gaps. Exactly the kind of visual you'd hope for if you're after a high-quality dessert on Hwangnidang-gil.

Mango and brûlée!!! In the photos, the layered fruit made it look even more delicious. Knowing that they hand-bake these fresh every morning at the store gave me a lot of confidence in them.

## Fruit mochi cross-section: rice cake thickness and juice

I picked the one I was most curious about and carefully cut it in half. Juice burst out from the thin, chewy rice cake skin and soaked my whole mouth.

It had a texture that was creamy yet chewy, almost rivaling the fruit's own acidity. The rice cake wasn't thick, so the fresh natural flavor of the fruit shone through with zero heaviness. Thanks to the subtle sweetness, I finished one in no time.

## Balance of crisp tart shell and cream

The moment I bit in, my eyes widened. Soft mochi and rich, flavorful cream spread through my mouth. It was light yet deeply flavorful.

![Bite taken out of a tart showing the cream](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyeongju-hwangnidan-gil-tardang-mango-brulee-tart/gyeongju-hwangnidan-gil-tardang-mango-brulee-tart-09-1y0q1-900.webp)

The bright fruit topping struck a perfect balance with the heavy cream. Out of all the desserts I've tried while hunting down cafés on Hwangnidang-gil, this ranks among the most satisfying. Paired with a sip of coffee, it made for a truly perfect dessert moment.

## Comparing three flavors: fresh mango, peach, and gold kiwi mochi

With the popular menu items all gathered together, it was fun to pick according to my taste. The bright yellow fresh mango melted in my mouth the second I bit in, giving off a strong tropical fruit aroma. The fragrant peach was crisp yet full of sweet juice, which suited my taste perfectly.

The tangy-sweet gold kiwi had a lively texture that was full of charm. You could really feel the owner's generosity in how much fruit was packed in, without holding back.

The fruit's natural sweetness was so high that every bite was a happy one.

## Gift packaging and set composition

The moment I saw the fruit mochi set at Tareudang on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju, I was convinced it would make a perfect gift.

The look was so bright and clean that it would surely make whoever receives it smile. It seemed more than fitting for gifting a special travel snack to someone you care about.

## A spot worth saving for your Hwangnidang-gil dessert route

It's a great place to head to when you're craving something sweet and refreshing. Since the lineup apparently changes a little with the seasons based on fresh seasonal fruit, it seems like it'd be fun to stop by each season. It has plenty of charm to earn a spot on any Hwangnidang-gil dessert list.

It's also great for taking out and enjoying on a street bench or back at a cozy guesthouse. In the leisurely atmosphere unique to the Hwangnam-dong alleys, it was a proper sweet sugar-charging experience.

There are all kinds of great restaurants and dessert shops on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju, but Tareudang is definitely one worth visiting at least once. Beyond the look and taste of the fruit mochi and tarts, I just loved how cute the shop itself was! Highly recommend it if you're looking for a great dessert on Hwangnidang-gil!
