## In short

Tareudang is a dessert café in Hwangridan-gil, Gyeongju, selling fruit mochi and tarts. I packed up four mochi after the tarts sold out late in the evening, and the fresh, chewy fig mochi was the standout. Tareudang is worth visiting early for tarts and fresh fruit mochi.

I went in the evening, so the tarts were sold out and I had no choice but to buy only mochi. Next time, I want to go early and try the tarts too.

Hwangridan-gil is such a charming little street. So many of Korea's cultural heritage sites are close by, plus great restaurants, cafés, and little gift shops..! If it were closer to home, I think I'd go to Gyeongju's Hwangridan-gil all the time, haha. And Tareudang was one of the places where I ate really, really well.

## What is Tareudang in Gyeongju's Hwangridan-gil like?

> Tareudang

This is Gyeongju's Hwangridan-gil on a quiet weekday in September, when the weather was so lovely. Cute little Tareudang was there, selling a variety of mochi and tarts. A Gyeongju fruit sando (fruit sandwich) spot 🍈🍊🥭🍍

## Mochi menu and the four-piece discount

> Tareudang menu (mochi)

I took a close look at the menu, and there were fresh chocolate, low-sugar peach yogurt, low-sugar mango yogurt, fig, pineapple, and gold kiwi. I'd honestly eaten kiwi to the point of getting sick of it, so I skipped that; I also skipped the sold-out low-sugar mango yogurt and ordered fresh chocolate, fig, pineapple, and low-sugar peach yogurt. It came to a little over ₩20,000.

You get ₩500 off each piece when buying four or more, and insulated packaging is free if you write a Naver review, so keep that in mind—it should help when you're buying!

## Tarts that sell out if you go late

> Tareudang menu (tarts)

The tart menu items you can't have if you go late! They were puff-pastry tarts, including egg tarts topped with fresh fruit. The pretty packaging makes them even more appealing, I think.

## Insulated-bag packaging and my order

> Tareudang packaging

They packed everything neatly in an insulated bag, and it's free when you write a Naver review. Naver reviews are so easy, so I really don't see why you wouldn't write one! Of course, the packaging cost is probably built into the product price anyway, but you'd have to pay extra if you don't write one, so I recommend doing it if you can.

> My order

Four pieces of mochi for ₩22,500 in total! That was after the ₩500 discount on each. At around ₩6,000 to ₩7,000 each, they don't exactly feel cheap.. but I still enjoyed them so much, haha. Fresh chocolate, fig, mango, and pineapple!

## Fig tart and oranda at the accommodation

> Fig tart and oranda

When I got back to my accommodation, I tried the fig tart and oranda (Korean puffed-rice confection) together, hehe. The tart and oranda I'd been looking forward to so much, hehe. I like mint chocolate (?) Please make a mint chocolate mochi! Hahaha.

## What did the fig mochi taste like?

> Fig mochi

It's fig mochi, hehe. Inside the mochi are cream, red bean paste, and fig. So, so chewy, hehe. It looks like a black dumpling, hehe..

> Fig mochi

It has half a fig inside, along with cream and red bean paste. It was so soft that it went down easily (?). It was ₩5,500! The fig was so fresh, which I loved, and since I thought it would be best while fresh, I tried this one first, haha.

## Low-sugar mango yogurt mochi taste

> Low-sugar mango yogurt mochi

You can tell it's mango mochi right from the wrapper! Since it said low-sugar.. I wondered if it might taste different, but it was similar, haha. Nicely sweet. The hanji (traditional Korean paper) was so pretty too, hehe 🥭

> Low-sugar mango yogurt mochi

A yogurt mochi that looks like a dumpling! I ate this one at home, so I had frozen it.

> Low-sugar mango yogurt mochi

There was yogurt and fresh mango inside the mochi. These days mango has become a fairly common fruit, which I love so much 🥭🍡 At ₩7,500, it is on the pricey side..! Still, you can split it in half to share, and I think the fresh fruit inside is a real plus.
