## In short

Hyangtaek Daebong Branch is a tidy Korean restaurant in Jung-gu, Daegu, near Kim Kwang-seok Street and Gyeongbuk Uni Hospital Station. On a Saturday around 7pm the writer ordered yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef rice bowl), herring roe bibim noodles, and a mushroom side, finding the beef fresh and generous and the mushrooms crisp outside, chewy and moist inside. With free 70-minute parking support at the Kim Kwang-seok Street public lot, it's an easy pick for a group meal or date course.

Today I had a delicious meal at Hyangtaek Daebong Branch~!

Hyangtaek is actually a place I've loved for years haha. As you can see from the menu, it's not heavy and makes for a great healthy meal, so I've come here with friends many times, and I even remember bringing exchange student friends here back in college...lol. It's such a neat, clean Korean restaurant that my foreign friends really loved it too.

### Where can you park?

There's a space to park right across from the restaurant! I parked there myself. If you use the Kim Kwang-seok Street public parking lot, they'll give you 70 minutes free — just tell the staff when you pay after your meal haha. FYI, at 7pm on a weekend, the Kim Kwang-seok Street public lot was completely full...

Hyangtaek Daebong Branch is a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Gyeongbuk Uni Hospital Station~ It's very close to the subway, so it's easy to visit. When I went around 7pm, it was bustling with people eating.

In front of the restaurant, there's a standing sign with the summer-limited menu and Hyangtaek's regular menu.

## Atmosphere and seating

The restaurant is super spacious and clean! This was my first time visiting the Daebong branch, and with all that space and so many tables, it seems perfect for wedding invitation gatherings or lunch/dinner meetups. The kitchen is open, so you can watch the staff cooking. Whenever I see an open kitchen, it reassures me that they're confident about hygiene.

There's also a TableManager (table waitlist) machine next to the counter. If there's a wait, you can easily add your name there~

## What we ordered and how much it cost

This is Hyangtaek's menu. I've actually tried most of the dishes... my favorites are the yukhoe bibimbap and the eggplant doenjang rice bowl. This time I decided to order noodles for a change.

> Yukhoe bibimbap ₩14,000
> Herring roe bibim noodles ₩13,000
> Mushroom side dish ₩6,000

I visited on the weekend and ordered the mushroom side dish, but it turns out on weekdays it's free with the receipt review event!!!!!!! I'll say more in the review section, but the mushroom dish is truly the real deal. If you're visiting on a weekday, definitely try the mushroom side dish through the receipt review.

On the table, there's a guide showing how to eat each dish the tastiest way haha. I read it carefully to make sure I ate everything the best way possible.

## What comes as banchan?

Here's the basic side dishes! You get doenjang soup, gim (seaweed), squid jeotgal (salted squid), and gungchae pickles as standard. The gim was such a highlight haha. And if you order the yukhoe bibimbap, you also get gochujang and an egg yolk to mix in~

My companion and I were both wearing white, and even though we didn't ask, the staff brought us aprons right away. So thoughtful and kind that it was touching...

## How the yukhoe bibimbap and herring roe noodles tasted

In order: yukhoe bibimbap, mushroom side dish, herring roe bibim noodles. So neat and clean-looking, right?! The yukhoe was really fresh and generous in portion. The herring roe noodles had a nice sense for texture too, with meat and perilla leaf added.

![Yukhoe bibimbap with bean sprouts hidden under the lettuce](https://img.superchart.com/images/hyangtaek-daebong-weekend-dinner-korean-set/hyangtaek-daebong-weekend-dinner-korean-set-16-1vdgf-900.webp)

Underneath the lettuce in the yukhoe bibimbap, there are hidden bean sprouts! Thanks to the sprouts, it's even crunchier and tastier.

Here's everything after mixing! The yukhoe bibimbap had really fresh raw beef, and the vegetables were so generous that it stayed crunchy until the last bite. The sauce provided for mixing to taste seemed like something made in-house at Hyangtaek! The herring roe bibim noodles had this fun popping texture from the roe haha. I thought it might be salty since it's so red... but not at all. Really delicious.

The gim that comes alongside is such a highlight! If you order a rice bowl or bibimbap, try wrapping it in the gim.

## Why you should definitely order the mushroom side dish

Finally, the star of the show: the mushroom side dish. I've completely fallen for this mushroom dish and want to go back again. I've been eating Hyangtaek's main dishes for years so I trust them completely, but this was my first time trying the mushroom side?! If you love mushrooms, you must try this! The edges are crispy while the inside is chewy and moist — this is definitely a must-order side dish... Since it's free on weekdays with a receipt review, I highly recommend trying it.

## Wrap-up

I left completely full, having cleaned my plate... Hyangtaek is always what comes to mind whenever I'm craving neat, clean Korean food! Every single dish is so good that it feels like checking off items one by one. I hope everyone gets a chance to visit Hyangtaek Daebong Branch! It's close to Gyeongbuk Uni Hospital Station, and having a meal at Hyangtaek then strolling Kim Kwang-seok Street and stopping by a café makes for a perfect date course! I'm planning to go back soon to try the pollack yukhoe mulhoe (cold raw pollack soup) and deodeok mushroom grill haha.
