He played ball at night, then cast his rod at bigfin reef squid spots all the way from Yeongdeok down to Guryongpo—and finally got hungry. At 3 pm. Haha. Ppwang Mulhoe (퐝물회), a Pohang seafood restaurant near Yeongildae that happened to be on our route, is famous for squid mulhoe (chilled raw fish soup)^^ We didn’t get to feel a catch on this trip, but at least it let us taste squid~! ## Location and parking The address is 203-1 Haean-ro, Buk-gu, and it has its own parking lot. Why had we never thought to try squid mulhoe? Some mulhoe places have that distinct fishy smell. My stomach is a little sensitive, so even if the food is delicious, that kind of smell puts me off—but there was none of that here! Oh yeah~~ The interior is this spacious! We came at 3 pm, so there was nobody here... Oh, except a couple like us who had brought their dog. Maybe because of the pet, they were shown into a private room to eat! Haha. All the side dishes are self-serve~~ They don’t bring side dishes separately, so before you sit down, just take as much of whatever you want without worrying! And tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) too!!! I was like, “Ooh!” and then held myself back—ah, I need to eat mulhoe~ haha. What I loved was the somyeon (thin wheat noodles)! I loved this so much that I wanted to eat it without pouring in the broth ㅠㅠ - Then pour in the broth!! The broth’s savory depth is no joke either! In the end, we both cleared every last grain of rice too~^^ My husband said, “Honey, I’ll make it so you can eat this much squid mulhoe~~” But we never did see any bigfin reef squid ㅠㅠ The squid we ate at Ppwang Mulhoe, this Yeongildae seafood restaurant, turned out to be the first and last squid we saw that day~~ hahaha. ## A satisfying meal with no break time Lots of restaurants have break time these days, but this place doesn’t, so luckily my husband and I—who had missed the right mealtime while fishing—still got to have a satisfying, delicious meal! At 3 pm, when restaurants are finishing their busiest stretch and getting ready for the next one, the owner still welcomed us so kindly.
