I was craving something greasy and filling, so I went looking for a burger place. I heard that Burgiz, which is well known in Galma-dong, had newly opened in Daeheung-dong too, so I headed over right after the lunch rush.

## A quiet Daeheung-dong burger restaurant near Jungangno Station

From Exit 3 of Jungangno Station, walk a little into the Daeheung-dong alleyways and it is right at the entrance to a residential area. It sits just off the main street by the flagship Sungsimdang store, so it is less hectic and makes for a pleasantly quiet meal.

Inside, it is well ventilated rather than being filled with that typical burger-joint oil smell. Light pours in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the white walls and wooden tables give the whole place a clean, café-like look.

There is a long communal table in the middle, plus two-person tables and bar seating along the windows and walls. Even if you come alone for a burger, you can sit down comfortably without feeling like you are taking up too much space. The chairs were not packed too closely together either.

## Ordering the Mushroom Set by table QR code

Each table has a square QR-code sticker. Instead of going to the counter, scan it with your phone camera and the ordering site opens right up, including payment. It is handy for taking your time discussing the menu with your group, and there is less chance of getting an order wrong.

There is a pretty wide selection, from standards such as cheeseburgers, bacon cheese, and double bacon to Hangover with hash browns and egg, Godfather, and Cheese Bang. I ordered the Mushroom Set (₩14,300), marked as a signature item.

After around 10 minutes, the burger, fries, and drink arrived together on a tray. An oversized cup with the green logo came filled with iced soda, with ketchup in a small stainless-steel dish beside it. The burger comes wrapped in paper, and it feels quite hefty in your hands because the fillings are piled in thick. Between the buns are lettuce, tomato, a beef patty, yellow cheddar cheese, and another thick fried patty.

## The combination of a whole fried mushroom and basil-wasabi sauce

The fries in the set are thick-cut fries, not thin McDonald's-style ones. They are crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, like steamed potatoes.

They were not oversalted, so they were not too salty and were just right dipped in ketchup. The oil had been drained well too, so they stayed crisp to the end without getting soggy and oil-soaked.

Compared with a typical burger chain, the price is a little higher, but with a whole fried mushroom and a beef patty packed inside, I think the ₩14,300 set is well worth it. The patty has a rich flavor, and above all, the basil-wasabi sauce really does its job.
