It's a bit of a walk from Mangwon Station, so it's best to take Mapo bus 16 and get off at Hwapyeong Church. You can smell the bread from the street already.. The 10am opening run Boulangerie Copain's baguette comes out right at the 10am opening. I remember Sogeumjip's jambon-beurre used to use this bakery's baguette too. You can just tell by looking at it that it's got that shattering crisp texture. There was also campagne and salt bread. Honestly they should just tape one to every customer's parchment paper. The baguette itself is so good that whatever they do with it tastes amazing. Apparently it's one of Seoul's top 11 baguettes. On its own it tastes really clean and nutty. The onion cream cheese sauce has thick cream cheese with bits of onion for crunch — the kick. Fragrant basil paired with onion cream cheese, top combo🫶🏻 The raspberry almond croissant has an almond cream coating on the outside that's genuinely crispy and nutty. The nutty bite is great, and inside there's a tangy raspberry filling that balances everything out. ## What to buy on a Mangwon-dong bakery crawl A lot of people come here on Mangwon-dong bakery tours too — if you come to Boulangerie Copain, definitely grab the basil crunch and baguette first. Since it's the master's croissant, grab whichever croissant you're craving too. There are sandwich items as well, so it's great for a simple meal.
