I heard there was a truly delicious new salt bread spot in Songdo, so I went to check it out. On a nice weekend, I had crispy-outside, soft-inside salt bread and a coffee in a cafe with jazz playing — I was so happy. Here's my review of the salt bread specialty bakery cafe "Cozy Bear."

## Where is Cafe Cozy Bear and when does the salt bread come out?

Cozy Bear is a salt bread specialty bakery cafe on the 1st floor of 160-19 Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It's open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed on Sundays, and fresh salt bread comes out twice a day — at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

## Inside Cafe Cozy Bear: seating and salt bread flavors

I visited Cozy Bear around 2:30 p.m. on a Saturday. The moment I walked in, the savory smell of salt bread was so pleasant. There were about 4 tables inside, plus 3–4 more tables on the terrace outside.

Doesn't the plump salt bread look really appetizing? Apparently Cozy Bear's salt bread only uses French fermented butter and Guérande sea salt, which gives it a distinct flavor.

There were quite a lot of flavor options: plain salt bread, red-bean-and-butter (angbutter), garlic, castella, pollock roe, and more — there looked to be so many delicious choices! But the garlic, pollock roe and castella flavors were already mostly sold out. If you want the garlic flavor, I'd recommend visiting right at the bread times, 9 a.m. or 2 p.m. Still, the plain and red-bean-butter flavors seemed to have plenty left even after 3 p.m.

It was interesting that a bakery had an open kitchen. I could really feel their pride in cleanliness.

The drink menu is varied too. Americano is ₩3,800, Cafe Latte is ₩4,500, and you can add or swap to decaf/oat milk for an extra ₩500. We ordered red-bean-butter salt bread, plain salt bread, an Americano and an iced latte.

## How do the plain and red-bean-butter salt breads taste?

The coffee and bread we'd been waiting for finally arrived!

The salt bread's shape is really cute, don't you think? Can you feel the vibe here...? Jazz happened to be playing in the cafe, and it made for such a relaxed, leisurely afternoon brunch feeling.

And as a Korean, I have to applaud the equipment they provide — tongs and scissors! When sharing bread, a plastic knife usually leaves it looking like a mess afterward, but with tongs and scissors provided, we were able to cut it neatly and nicely.

As for the taste — it was so good! On the first bite, the slightly toasted butter part was crispy, and I could taste a rich butter flavor along with the soft bread! The red-bean-butter version had an even richer taste thanks to the butter and red bean. But honestly, the bread itself is so delicious that I'd recommend definitely trying the plain salt bread first, then ordering a few other flavors too.

They happen to be running a 3+1 opening event on salt bread, which seems like a great chance to try several flavors. If you get it gift-wrapped, they package it in a cute box with a bear drawn on it. The box was so pretty I kind of wanted to keep it...

Cozy Bear is a newly opened salt bread cafe in Songdo, Incheon. Beyond the plain salt bread, there's a good variety — red-bean-butter, castella, pollock roe, garlic — so there's fun in picking and choosing.

Using only premium French butter gives the bread superb flavor, and you can taste truly delicious salt bread that's crispy outside and soft inside. The interior atmosphere is comfortable, great for a cup of coffee, and the open kitchen means you can trust what you're eating. As it gets more popular, sold-out issues may come up, so I'd recommend timing your visit with the bread release times!
