# Cheonan pork cutlet plate bigger than a phone: Jinsim Wang Donkatsu

I went to Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang, a pork cutlet spot in Buldang-dong, Cheonan. This is my record of trying the generously sized Jjolmyeon Katsu and the cheese-loaded Cheese Waterfall Katsu that fully live up to the restaurant's name.

## Why "wang" (king) is in the name Jinsim Wang Donkatsu

My husband had eaten at Jinsim Wang Donkatsu before, but this was my first time. With 'wang donkatsu' (king pork cutlet) right there in the name, I wondered just how big it could be — and the moment the food arrived, I got it immediately hahaha. It really was huge...? The plate itself was big, but the cutlet had serious presence sitting on top of it.

That day we ordered Jjolmyeon Katsu and Cheese Waterfall Katsu — one each! Between the jjolmyeon (spicy chilled noodles), the cheese, and the self-serve bar extras, we ended up properly stuffed. Here's my story of visiting Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang, a katsu spot in Buldang :)

## Where Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang is and when it opens

It's located in Buldang-dong, Cheonan, and runs the same hours every day. There's a break time from 15:00 to 16:30, so if you're planning a late lunch, it's worth checking the schedule before you go!

## What the self-serve bar holds: soup, lettuce and takeout containers

The self-serve bar at Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang had side dishes to go with the katsu — kimchi, pickled radish, lettuce, ssamjang (dipping sauce). And then I spotted the soup!

When you come for a king-sized katsu like this, you kind of have to start with a bowl of soup, right hahaha.

So we each grabbed a bowl of soup while waiting for the food.

There were separate trays and utensils for kids too, and small plates, spoons, forks and knives were all there at the self-serve bar to grab as needed.

They also had containers ready so you could pack up any leftovers yourself.

And the fun part here was the lettuce! You could eat the katsu wrapped in lettuce, which felt different from a typical pork cutlet place.

## Jjolmyeon katsu: pork cutlet and chewy cold noodles on one plate

Finally, our order showed up! First up, the Jjolmyeon Katsu.

A big cutlet sat on a big plate, served with jjolmyeon, rice, and cabbage salad. When I cut into the katsu, I could see the breading on the outside and the meat's cross-section inside.

I tried the katsu on its own first, then mixed in the jjolmyeon that came alongside. And then, of course... the katsu-jjolmyeon combo began hahaha.

I piled a generous amount of jjolmyeon and vegetables onto a piece of katsu and ate them together. Going from plain katsu to jjolmyeon and back to katsu again made for a fun back-and-forth even within a single dish. On days when you want both noodles and katsu, this is the combo that lets you have both at once.

## Cheese waterfall katsu: measuring the plate against a phone

The second dish had a bold name from the start — Cheese Waterfall Katsu!

Photos alone weren't getting the scale across, so I put a phone next to it for comparison. Does that give you a sense of the size hahaha. This was my first time trying it and I genuinely didn't expect it to be this big.

With 'waterfall' in the name, I was curious just how much cheese was packed in. When I cut the katsu and lifted a piece, the cheese inside came stretching right up with it.

This was the kind of visual you have to photograph before eating hahaha. Even looking at the cut cross-section, you could clearly see the cheese inside the katsu.

The Cheese Waterfall Katsu's standout point was definitely that cheese visual you see when you cut into it. The two dishes had different setups even though both were katsu, so ordering one of each and sharing worked out well.

## Asking for the sauce on the side to soak, not just dip

I wanted plenty of katsu sauce, so partway through, I asked for extra sauce on the side.

They brought it out in a small separate bowl, and from that point on, the dipping began in earnest hahaha. Looking back at the photos, though, calling this 'dipping' feels like an understatement...

It was basically dunking at this point hahaha. A piece of katsu, fully submerged in sauce, straight into my mouth!

I ate the Jjolmyeon Katsu both with the noodles and dipped in sauce, and had the Cheese Waterfall Katsu with sauce too.

I even mixed the leftover sauce into the rice and finished it off properly to the very end haha.

## The sides: cabbage salad, kimchi and cucumber peppers

And between bites of katsu, I had cabbage salad, kimchi, and cucumber peppers on the side.

I'd dip a cucumber pepper straight into the ssamjang and then go back to the katsu hahaha. Even with such generous portions, there were so many things to pair it with that I kept switching up the combination. Adding the pepper into the mix gave it that classic gisa sikdang (trucker's diner) vibe, you know what I mean? Hahaha, it made everything taste even better ^^

## Could two people finish both plates?

> The name 'wang donkatsu' (king pork cutlet) wasn't for nothing haha. A meal that surprised us with its size at first, then got polished off to the end with the jjolmyeon and cheese combos!

Honestly, when the Jjolmyeon Katsu and Cheese Waterfall Katsu first arrived, I was a little taken aback by the plate sizes. 'Are the two of us really going to finish all this...?' But if you look at the last photo... yep. We finished almost everything hahaha. This was my first time trying Jinsim Wang Donkatsu, so I didn't understand why 'wang' (king) was in the name, but once I saw it in person, I got it right away. The two dishes had different appeals, so ordering one each and sharing them was fun too.

On top of that, we had self-serve soup and side dishes, and asked for extra sauce to dunk the katsu in over and over — and the plates that looked huge at first ended up practically empty hahaha. If you're in Buldang-dong, Cheonan and looking for a generously portioned katsu spot, or want a cutlet paired with jjolmyeon and cheese, head to Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang :)
