I visited Jeonju House, a Korean restaurant in Yuseong, Daejeon, when I was craving a neat, satisfying meal. It's a Korean restaurant where you can enjoy cast-iron galbi kimchi stew loaded with aged kimchi and big chunks of ribs, alongside pot rice.

## Inside Jeonju House: group seating and charging outlets

The inside of Jeonju House was more spacious than I expected. The tables have generous spacing, and there are seats good for large groups, so it seemed like a solid spot for family gatherings or group meals.

Sunlight coming in through the window seats kept the place feeling bright, and there were charging outlets available for customers to use. Being able to charge your phone while eating is a small thing, but genuinely convenient.

### Don't miss the free self-serve tofu

The self-serve corner had tofu ready to add into the kimchi stew. I didn't realize tofu was available separately at first, but a staff member pointed it out and I tried adding it in. If you order the kimchi stew, don't forget to grab some tofu.

The side dishes are made in-house with care, according to the restaurant. I kept reaching for the bean sprouts because of the nutty sesame oil flavor, haha.

## Cast-iron galbi kimchi stew, 15,000 won

When the cast-iron galbi kimchi stew arrived, the first thing I noticed was a whole half-head of aged kimchi sitting right in the pot.

You cut the kimchi yourself as you eat, which made it fun to watch, and with big chunks of rib meat mixed in, it looked hearty from the very first glance.

The meat, described as Korean pork ribs, came with two rib bones and pretty sizable chunks.

I lightly cooked it first and cut it into bite-sized pieces, then let it simmer again so the broth and kimchi flavor soaked into the meat.

The kimchi stew is anchovy-broth based, so the soup tasted clean and spicy-sharp. It wasn't overwhelmingly hot, more the kind of spicy that goes great with rice, so a bowl disappeared fast. I kept telling myself "just one more spoonful of rice" but couldn't stop, haha.

## Egg roll, 10,000 won: bigger than you expect

At first I thought the egg roll was a bit pricey. But once it arrived, I changed my mind.

A single roll was far bigger than I expected — just two slices left me pretty full, lol.

It was a great size for sharing among several people, and it also softened the sharp spiciness of the kimchi stew nicely.

## Pot rice and the rice-crust finish

The pot rice paired well with everything. After scooping out the rice, you pour water into the pot, and by the end of the meal you get to enjoy rice crust (nurungji). Even though I was already full, the nutty, tasty rice crust kept me eating.
