Hyangtaek Cheonan Buldang Branch was already busy right from weekend opening time. I visited right when it opened and this is the best interior shot I could get because of how many people were there haha. Guess that just shows how hot this spot is in Buldang right now? Looked like a lot of dates, plus groups of friends hanging out, and family dinners too! Luckily there were still bar seats open so we settled right in. So lucky! The gondre (dried gondre greens) rice, loaded with sesame seeds, smelled so good I was already amazed the moment it arrived. Is food even allowed to look this beautiful... This one's seriously the best... Hyangtaek's eggplant doenjang rice bowl comes with kelp vinegar on the side, and that's the kicker. I really don't like eggplant so mom ordered this one, but I stole a bite and... it was completely different... totally different... You tear the eggplant along its grain like this and add the kelp vinegar to taste, and honestly the kelp vinegar was so good... There's ganjang-doenjang (thick soybean paste) mixed in, and the savory depth is no joke... This has to be a signature dish, no wonder it's popular... Anyone who hates eggplant will go to heaven eating this. Guaranteed. Mom loved it so much, and I felt so proud even though I didn't cook a thing, haha. I couldn't because it was a weekend visit, haha. But for ₩6,000, the portion of mushrooms and the flavor... so touching. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and not much flour added so it sat really easy on the stomach! (It held its shape almost entirely from the mushrooms.) Fried in oil which makes it even tastier... Definitely order this as a side. ## Why Hyangtaek works for a family meal in Sinbuldang, Cheonan We genuinely ate so well... it disappeared in the blink of an eye. Every single dish was so good... the eggplant rice bowl is honestly the surprise hit here, definitely order it. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Sinbuldang or want a light lunch, I highly, highly recommend this place!! Parents will love it too, moms especially.
