Today, after an early pickup, I took the kids for their infant health checkups. The wait in Sejong was far too long, so we crossed over to Daejeon. At the checkup, both kids were smaller in weight and height than others their age, and since the younger one seems to live with a runny-nose cold, we were told to pay particular attention to immunity during the seasonal change in fall. The ultimate stamina food that immediately came to mind was eel! Straight to the search bar.

The kids had never tried eel before, so would they eat it? While worrying about that, I found Songrimbok Jangeo (송림복장어) Unlimited Freshwater Eel Daejeon Direct Store in Jijok-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.

They do not just serve eel: chicken neck meat and pork belly are unlimited too, so it seemed worth trying. The owner is smart about this—at a company dinner, there is always someone who cannot eat grilled eel, but I have never seen anyone who cannot eat pork belly or grilled chicken. Paying the same money and being unable to eat is unfair, but that does not happen at Songrimbok Jangeo.

## Songrimbok Jangeo hours and vehicle-elevator parking

They are open daily from 11:50 AM to 11:00 PM, starting service at lunch. The parking method was a little unusual. There are a few spaces in front of the restaurant, but they fill up quickly, and the building has a vehicle elevator. Let me show you with photos.

Drive slowly all the way in, then stop when the wheel catches on the raised lip.

Press your floor and then Close, and the rear door shuts.

When you arrive at the right floor, the front door opens. Once it is fully open, drive forward slowly—but the lip in front of the wheels has not disappeared, so you have to drive over it. It is a little startling the first time, but that is the right way to do it.

There were plenty of parking spaces, and exiting is simply the reverse of entering. The entrance and exit are different, so check before proceeding. For a company dinner, I recommend dropping your group off in front of the restaurant before parking. This kind of parking system is not very common outside major cities, so it can be confusing at first. Knowing this in advance for a company dinner will earn you points.

## Unlimited refills from eel to chicken neck meat and pork belly

After parking, we headed into the restaurant. Unlimited freshwater eel, written right at the entrance! Unlimited-refill places can come with preconceptions, so let us focus on checking the quality.

This is the interior. It was early evening, so customers were just starting to arrive. The rooms are not completely enclosed, but there are rooms further inside that work well for company dinners. We went on a Thursday evening, and there were several company-dinner groups. Weekday company dinners are definitely the trend these days.

Songrimbok Jangeo is unlimited refill, but they say fresh eel arrives daily from the direct market. Takeout is available too.

There is also lots of spacious group seating inside. Of course, high chairs and children’s tableware are provided, so family meals with kids are no problem.

This was the basic table setting. Green-onion kimchi, onion, pickled perilla leaves, and white kimchi are all great little forces that make you dig in again just when eel starts to feel rich.

This was the first set brought out for two adults having unlimited refills. It is unlimited, but the initial set was so generous that we could hardly imagine asking for a refill ㅠㅠ

The adult price is ₩29,900 per person, but there is a ₩3,000 per-person table-setting fee, making it effectively ₩32,900 per person. Children below elementary-school age are free, while elementary school students are ₩14,000 with no table-setting fee.

They gave us bokbunja wine as a complimentary service. That covers the table-setting fee~ Such a gorgeous deep-purple color. Because of the driving situation, only my wife took a sip. Even my wife, who is not much of a drinker, said it was delicious.

## Kids’ first eel challenge: grill it well-done and eat together

Now we really started grilling. As the instructions for eating it deliciously say, grill the skin side first. At the same time, in case the kids could not eat the eel, we grilled chicken neck meat and pork belly alongside it as insurance.

Just looking at it, the eel was neither small nor thin—it was nicely thick. The chicken neck meat and pork belly were fresh too, with no smell. They were meaty and thick, with the fat sizzling away.

This is what it looked like when it was almost done. The taste~~ First of all, the eel was wonderfully springy, with just the right amount of fat; it did not taste like unlimited-refill quality at all. After tasting it, I understood why they can sell the eel separately for takeout. Ah~ they really are confident in their eel. The chicken neck meat was unexpectedly so tender and delicious that the kids ate it well too, and we refilled it twice more. The pork belly was thick with a good level of fat. The chicken and eel were so good that, rather than thick pork belly, thin sliced pork belly might be nice too. Even the kids trying eel for the first time ate it well, saying it was nutty and tasty when grilled well-done!

Reviews say the eel soup is good and that many people order it, but we were craving something spicy, so we ordered ramen. Its satisfyingly spicy flavor did not disappoint, and we refilled the eel once more.

The refill meat and eel were just like the first serving, and the freshness and overall quality were really good.

This is a delicious, large restaurant in Yuseong, Daejeon, where you can enjoy unlimited eel as well as chicken neck meat and pork belly, with convenient parking—great not only for family meals but also for company dinners. Recommended as a nourishing meal for the fall seasonal change!
