## In short

Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch is a handmade jokbal (Korean braised pig's trotters) restaurant a 3-minute walk from Exit 3 of Bupyeong Market Station in Incheon. Dining in with friends, the writer ordered a front-leg half-and-half jokbal (original plus spicy) with jaengban guksu (cold spicy noodles), 2 beers and 1 bowl of rice, and the meat had no gamey smell and plenty of springy collagen. Jangmo Jokbal works for a family meal or a date, and also does delivery and takeout.

## What kind of place is Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch?

Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch (장모족발 부평시장역 본점) has been my go-to jokbal spot since I lived in Bupyeong. It does dine-in, delivery, and takeout, and back when I lived here, if I ever craved jokbal, this was the only place I'd go. Here's my review of revisiting this handmade jokbal favorite near Bupyeong Market with friends after a long time.

### How to get there and opening hours

### Outside and inside the restaurant

It's a 3-minute walk from Exit 3 of Bupyeong Market Station, so it's easy to reach by public transport. Inside, there are about 7 tables seating four each. Since it's a popular spot, there can be a wait during the evening peak, so I'd recommend booking ahead through Naver Reservation.

## Menu and prices: front leg vs. back leg jokbal

Being a jokbal specialist, they have a wide variety of jokbal on the menu.

The difference between front-leg and back-leg jokbal

- Front leg: chewy and tender / relatively rich in collagen / pricier than back leg / great when you love a soft, springy jokbal
- Back leg: higher lean meat ratio and lighter / relatively less collagen / great when you prefer mostly lean meat

Jangmo Jokbal, a well-known spot near Bupyeong Market, uses 100% domestic pork trotters, boiled fresh in-house the same day. The tender jokbal is sliced evenly. All the pork used here is domestic!

The spoon and chopsticks were individually wrapped, which felt hygienic to use. Instead of disposable wet wipes, they set out a proper wet hand towel.

## What we ordered for a table of friends

- Front-leg half-and-half jokbal (original + spicy)
- Jaengban guksu (cold spicy noodles on a platter)
- 2 beers
- 1 steamed rice

![Basic side dishes: seasoned dried radish, seasoned chives, salted shrimp, and lettuce](https://img.superchart.com/images/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half-08-1o8cp-900.webp)

The basic table setting came with seasoned dried radish, seasoned chives, lettuce, salted shrimp, garlic, cheongyang chili peppers, and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste).

![Warm seaweed soup served as a side](https://img.superchart.com/images/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half-09-taa5v-900.webp)

A spoonful of the warm seaweed soup that came with it was so good it made me crave plain white rice, so we ended up ordering steamed rice too, haha.

![Jaengban guksu topped with icy slush](https://img.superchart.com/images/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half-10-1gw4v-900.webp)

### Jaengban guksu (cold spicy noodles)

Jaengban guksu — always our go-to order alongside jokbal! Topped with icy slush, it just looks so refreshing your mouth waters at first sight. The tangy-sweet, spicy sauce paired with the chewy noodles was packed with savory flavor, and the combo of nutty peanut powder and raisins worked really well.

### Front-leg half-and-half jokbal: original and spicy

Look at that glossy jokbal. Rich in collagen and wonderfully chewy front-leg meat — it was so good.

We also cooled off with some beer with friends.

![A piece of jokbal dipped in salted shrimp sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half-15-1pb9p-899.webp)

Dipped in the basic salted shrimp sauce.

![Close-up of plump, collagen-rich front-leg jokbal](https://img.superchart.com/images/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half-16-d19oy-900.webp)

Can you see how plump that collagen is? One bite and the chewy texture in my mouth was genuinely insane. This confirmed it — Jangmo Jokbal really is the jokbal spot near Bupyeong Market.

![Spicy jokbal coated in fiery sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half/bupyeong-market-jangmo-jokbal-front-leg-half-17-9faog-899.webp)

The spicy jokbal has a sweet-and-spicy character, and it's not just about heat, so I kept reaching for more. The chewy jokbal with that spicy sauce paired perfectly with cold beer.

We ate it with plain white rice, and paired with jaengban guksu it was also a real treat.

## Is Jangmo Jokbal worth a visit?

At Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch, I tried the original jokbal, the spicy jokbal, and the front-leg half-and-half. There was no gamey pork smell at all, and it was chewy and springy in the best way. The original jokbal had chewy, non-tough collagen with tender lean meat. The spicy jokbal was deliciously spicy in a way that kept me coming back for more. It paired well with the seasoned chives, dried radish, and lettuce wraps too. I'd recommend it for a family meal or a date spot — and since delivery and takeout are also available, you can enjoy it comfortably at home too.
