## In short

Deli Donkatsu is an old-school Western-style pork cutlet restaurant on Songjeong Jungang-ro in Haeundae, Busan. The assorted cutlet platter (15,000 won, with beef, pork and fish cutlets) and the cheese Napolitan spaghetti (10,000 won) arrived with cream soup, a morning roll and spicy chili relish, while rice and cabbage salad come with free refills. Tasting beef cutlet for the first time with that spicy sauce kept every bite, right down to the last, from feeling heavy.

## The nostalgic pre-meal setup and side dishes

![Old-school cream soup served before the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-11-1bixp-900.webp)

![Morning rolls in a basket served with cream soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-12-112fp-900.webp)

The first thing served is a warm, old-school cream soup with a basket of morning rolls. I sprinkled some of the table pepper over the soup before taking a spoonful. It was smooth, savory, and warmed you right up — a classic old-school soup flavor, perfect for whetting the appetite before the meal.

![Warm morning roll with strawberry jam](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-13-qudat-900.webp)

The morning rolls that come with it are delicious torn apart by hand while still warm and topped with Ottogi strawberry jam, or dipped into the cream soup, or even stuffed with cutlet and cabbage salad to make a mini burger.

![Diced radish kimchi, pickled radish, and chili relish side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-14-cgtyg-900.webp)

The basic side dishes include crunchy, well-fermented diced radish kimchi and pickled radish, but what really stood out was the spicy chili relish (jjaengcho dadagi, minced pickled chili) that seems to be Deli Donkatsu's signature. It really cuts through the richness.

The soup, morning rolls, squeeze-packet strawberry jam, bottled cola, and Western-style cutlet all brought back memories of going to old-school restaurants with my parents as a kid for cutlet. They even had 2000s songs playing, so I found myself humming along.

## Assorted cutlet, 15,000 won: beef, pork and fish on one plate

![Deli Donkatsu's assorted cutlet platter piled high on a large plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-15-1un3s-900.webp)

Today's first main dish is the assorted cutlet (beef cutlet + pork cutlet + fish cutlet), which delivers both variety and volume! The huge plate was piled so full my jaw dropped — being able to try pork cutlet, tender fish cutlet, and beef cutlet all at once makes this the perfect choice for anyone who can't decide. It's the kind of hearty dish that fits a Songjeong, Busan lunch spot.

![Beef cutlet placed at the top of the assorted platter](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-16-140yg-900.webp)

### Beef cutlet (bihu-katsu), tasted for the first time

At the very top is the beef cutlet. I don't think I've ever had beef cutlet before, but ordering the assorted platter at Deli Donkatsu let me finally try it. It's fried beef, so it tastes exactly as delicious as you'd imagine. I was glad to try something I don't usually eat.

![Western-style pork cutlet drizzled with brown sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-17-7ts63-900.webp)

### Pork cutlet

In the middle is the pork cutlet. It comes generously drizzled with a sweet, deep, rich special old-school brown sauce over the breading. Even though it's soaked in sauce and moist, you can still taste the savory flavor of the fried breading underneath — a delicious old-school pork cutlet I hadn't had in a while.

### Fish cutlet

At the bottom is the fish cutlet. The outside is really crispy while the fish inside is very tender. It's topped generously with a savory, tangy tartar sauce, showing off the perfect crispy-outside-tender-inside texture. It washed away any bad memories of school-cafeteria fish cutlet.

### The generous side spread

The fresh cabbage salad with a great ketchup-mayo combo, the sweet and savory potato-corn-macaroni salad, and unlimited rice refills rounded out the plate nicely — I never got tired of it, even down to the last bite.

## Cheese Napolitan spaghetti, 10,000 won, with butter on the hot plate

![Cheese Napolitan spaghetti on a sizzling plate with butter](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-18-14790-900.webp)

The second main dish I was just as excited for is the cheese Napolitan spaghetti, topped with cheese and butter on a hot sizzling plate! As soon as it arrived, the savory smell of cheese and butter hit me — the pile of savory melted mozzarella cheese blanketing the spaghetti white, with a pat of butter slowly melting in the center, was an overwhelming visual.

Mixing the butter in the center and the stretchy, savory cheese well with the spaghetti brings out a rich savory umami flavor. The sweet-and-tangy Napolitan sauce base gets coated with the butter's richness, deepening the overall flavor even more. There were also vegetables like sausage, bell pepper, and onion mixed in, letting me properly enjoy the charm of the classic Napolitan spaghetti I ate as a kid.

## DELI TIP! How to enjoy Deli Donkatsu 200% more

![Spicy sauce and chili relish served alongside pork cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-19-1hs98-900.webp)

### 1. Pork cutlet + spicy sauce + chili relish is the must-try combo

Try dipping the crispy, savory pork cutlet in the spicy sauce, then topping it with a bit of the tangy chili relish. The spicy sauce and the clean, spicy flavor of the pickled chili balance out the richness, so you can eat every last bite without feeling greasy.

![A piece of pork cutlet dipped in spicy sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-20-mhv45-900.webp)

![Pork cutlet topped with chili relish](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill/songjeong-deli-donkatsu-modum-katsu-refill-21-1gir5-900.webp)

Neither one is too spicy, so even a spice wimp like me could handle it by adjusting the amount. In particular, the spicy sauce is deliciously spicy but the heat fades quickly, so I really recommend it!

### 2. Build your own pork cutlet burger with the morning roll

Slice the morning roll served before the meal in half horizontally, then stuff it with the Cajun cabbage salad and a piece of cut-up cutlet, and you've got a delicious homemade pork cutlet burger. Add a little jam and you'll get that classic sweet-and-salty combo!

### 3. Unlimited refills of rice and cabbage salad

## Final verdict on Deli Donkatsu in Songjeong, Busan

From the soup, morning rolls, squeeze-packet strawberry jam, and bottled cola, to the Western-style pork cutlet and the music from that era playing in the background, this place really brought back memories of eating cutlet with my parents at an old-school restaurant as a kid.

If you're on a drive through Songjeong or shopping near the Lotte Outlet in East Busan and wondering where to eat, I recommend Deli Donkatsu, a Songjeong, Busan restaurant / East Busan restaurant that people of all ages tend to love. Thanks to its nostalgic charm and flavor, it'll be a can't-fail choice for a Songjeong, Busan lunch spot. 😊
