It's within walking distance of Jamsil Station or Seokchon Lake and sits right on the Bangi-dong restaurant street, so the location was great. There's a hall on the 1st and 2nd floors plus rooms in the basement — the rooms felt private, good for gatherings or work dinners, and they said up to 20 people can be accommodated. It had a strong cheonggukjang (fermented soybean) feel — they said they add chives in summer and naengi (shepherd's purse) in winter — and it was spicy, thick, and delicious. Have you ever seen egg custard topped with precious caviar? I think it was a first for me too, and the umami was outstanding. Apparently it's reinterpreted Yukmong-style to match the lavish banquets of kings, and it was fragrant — with something like a pineapple or fruity note along with the makgeolli character. The assorted set let us try handon galbi samgyeop, whole pork neck, and pork hanger steak all together. The galbi samgyeop, called one of Seoul's top three samgyeopsal, is cut from the belly area around the rib bone, using the top 1% selected cuts of native Korean female pigs. The snowflake-marbled pork neck is also select-grade, served in thick whole pieces (ordered in 2-serving portions for single orders to keep the juiciness). And the hanger steak (galmaegisal) is a very rare cut, since only a small amount comes from each pig, so I was glad we could try it alongside the rest. It felt great to enjoy good meat, side dishes, and drinks together after a while. This place would also work really well for a work dinner, gathering, or date.
