The root perm took about an hour, and the layered cut and blow-dry were done carefully afterward.

## Finishing the layered cut: how much layering?

After the perm was finished, they shampooed my hair and, while drying it, built volume from the roots and styled each layer of the cut to have movement.

I wanted the layers to connect naturally without being too heavy to style, and they fell softly along my face line, which was even more satisfying. The ends were trimmed lightly while keeping the overall length — good stuff.
