## In short

Yongchon Gogi-jip is a pork galbi (marinated pork rib) restaurant on Yongwon-ro in Toseong-myeon, Goseong, Gangwon. Arriving at 11:30am on a weekend meant waiting more than 50 minutes, after which two servings of hand-trimmed pork galbi, fresh pork kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) and pollock hoe naengmyeon (cold noodles) were shared with the writer's parents, plus steamed egg custard served free. The banchan (side dishes) tasted like home cooking and the parents raved about the meal, making Yongchon Gogi-jip a Goseong pork galbi restaurant worth returning to.

Last day of our Gangwon trip!! To fill up on meat before heading home, we visited Yongchon Gogi-jip, a pork galbi spot in Goseong, Gangwon. Parking is available right in front 🚘 and the lot is huge!

## Private rooms and high chairs: is Yongchon Gogi-jip good for a family meal?

Yongchon Gogi-jip has room seating and group seating, plus kids' chairs on hand. The restroom is indoors too, which made it easy bringing my parents and a child along.

There's room seating and group seating too. Great for eating with family while visiting Sokcho — a local favorite for Sokcho-style galbi! Recommended for family trips, dates, or group outings.

## How does the hand-trimmed pork galbi taste?

Yongchon Gogi-jip's pork galbi is made from carefully selected 1st-grade pork, hand-trimmed to the optimal thickness, they say. Grilled over charcoal and wrapped in lettuce, the meat was tender and soft.

They went through three truckloads of meat testing the marinade recipe, so the galbi is extra delicious after aging in it !! Grilled pork galbi wrapped in lettuce with all the side dishes stuffed in — insanely good !! The meat is tender and soft (the chive kimchi especially is amazing).

## Fresh pork kimchi jjigae and the free steamed egg custard

Yongchon Gogi-jip's fresh pork kimchi jjigae (₩10,000) was packed with thick cuts of pork and had a great texture, and the steamed egg custard came out free of charge. The egg custard arrives hot in an earthenware bowl, old-school style.

A kimchi jjigae loaded with pork !! The thick-cut pork gives it such a great texture. Savory and clean-tasting, genuinely delicious haha. With tofu, mushrooms and kimchi mixed in, it's perfect over rice. And Yongchon Gogi-jip, a Goseong favorite, gives you steamed egg custard for free !! I needed my protein, so this was such a win haha. The egg custard is old-school style, served in an earthenware bowl — warm and tasty !!!

## Was the pollock hoe naengmyeon worth ordering?

We ordered the pollock hoe naengmyeon (₩10,000) mixed-style to eat alongside the pork galbi. The sweet-and-tangy sauce, chewy noodles, and pollock made it even better.

Not overly spicy or salty, which made it even tastier. No exaggeration — every single menu item at this Goseong favorite is delicious (there's a reason it's famous as a local hidden gem).

## Home-style side dishes and would we go back to Yongchon Gogi-jip?

Yongchon Gogi-jip's chive kimchi and watery kimchi tasted like they'd been made from scratch, home-style. Eating with my parents, I'd say we'll definitely be back — 100 percent, no, 10,000 percent.

The chive kimchi and watery kimchi seem homemade — not restaurant-style side dishes but the kind of home cooking your grandma or mom makes, which makes them taste even more comforting. Would definitely go back. 100 percent. No !! 10,000 percent 🤍

![Final shot of the full pork galbi spread at Yongchon Gogi-jip](https://img.superchart.com/images/goseong-pork-ribs-family-lunch-yongchon/goseong-pork-ribs-family-lunch-yongchon-24-qy694-900.webp)

Went with my parents and we were truly satisfied — a genuine Sokcho hidden gem, a genuine local favorite in Goseong. I recommend Yongchon Gogi-jip as a top pick for Sokcho pork galbi / Goseong pork galbi.

> [What Yongchon Gogi-jip is proud of]
> 1. As a proper meat restaurant, they serve top-grade domestic Korean pork.
> 2. They never use pre-made marinated galbi — they hand-trim and marinate the meat themselves, then age it.
> 3. Unlike typical wet-marinated pork galbi places that pad the 250g weight with sauce and bone, their salt-based marinade means most of the weight is pure meat.
> 4. They use high-quality silver-sheen charcoal.
> 5. Side dishes are made in-house with care, using good ingredients.
> 6. A wide parking lot makes parking easy.
> 7. Groups can use sliding-door private rooms.
