## In short

Sinseon Myeonga is a Korean restaurant at the entrance to Yeollidan-gil in Yeonje, Busan. I ordered two octopus bibimbap and bossam sets plus a large anchovy kalguksu; the separate octopus sauce, tender bossam, and chewy noodles stood out.

At Sinseon Myeonga (신선면가) in Yeonsan-dong, I had an octopus bibimbap (mixed rice) and bossam (boiled pork wraps) set along with anchovy kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). We could have both rice and noodles, and once the food arrived, the table was nearly full.

## Is it suitable for solo dining or visiting with children?

Even though I went well after lunchtime, there were still quite a few diners. I saw people eating alone, older diners in pairs, and families. High chairs were available, and the staff worked diligently to clear tables and serve food.

## What is on the menu, and how much does it cost?

The menu was varied, from kalguksu and sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) to bibimbap, pork cutlet, and bossam. A notice in the restaurant said it uses blended rice and fresh noodles made in-house daily.

The main à la carte prices listed in the original post are below. I felt the noodle and rice dishes were reasonably priced.

- Anchovy kalguksu: ₩7,000 regular, ₩8,000 large
- Spicy mixed kalguksu and cold kalguksu: ₩8,000 regular, ₩9,000 large
- Sujebi: ₩7,500 regular, ₩8,500 large
- Perilla oil kalguksu: ₩8,500 regular, ₩9,500 large
- Soybean kalguksu: ₩8,500 regular, ₩10,000 large
- Bulgogi bibimbap and tuna bibimbap: ₩9,500 regular, ₩11,000 large
- Octopus bibimbap and Korean-style pork cutlet: ₩10,000 each
- Bibimbap and pork cutlet sets with a small serving of bossam: ₩14,400–₩16,900 according to the original post

The kitchen was open, so I could watch the cooking from the dining area. Once we ordered, the kitchen became busy.

## What came with the octopus bibimbap and bossam set?

We ordered two octopus bibimbap and bossam sets and one large anchovy kalguksu. Having rice, bossam, and soupy noodles together made for a filling meal.

The octopus bibimbap came with bibimbap topped with namul (seasoned vegetables) and a separate octopus sauce. I liked being able to adjust the amount of sauce to my taste, and there was a generous amount of namul.

The octopus was chewy yet tender, and the sauce was sweet and spicy. The rice was sticky but, after mixing, stayed fluffy rather than becoming soggy.

The bossam arrived in a steamer. The meat was thick-cut yet tender and pleasant to chew, and the mild tofu served with it paired well. I was satisfied with both the composition and taste of the bossam in the set.

## How were the broth and noodles in the anchovy kalguksu?

The anchovy kalguksu had a rich, slightly thick broth. It did not have the fishy smell typical of anchovies, and it left a savory finish. The noodles were chewy but went down smoothly.

I sometimes feel heavy after eating kalguksu, but I felt comfortable even after this meal. There was also a dessert corner near the entrance.
