## In short

Deokjane Bangatgan is a bunsik (Korean snack food) restaurant in Seocho, Seoul, a 2-minute walk from Exit 7 of Sinnonhyeon Station. With the 8pm last order closing in, the writer phoned ahead for tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), sundae (Korean blood sausage) and deokja gimbap (seaweed rice roll), and the bag was packed and waiting on arrival. Rice garaetteok pulled fresh every morning and a thick, aged gochujang sauce are what make Deokjane Bangatgan worth the last-minute dash.

I picked up some bunsik (Korean snack food) takeout from Deokjane Bangatgan, located at 62 Seochodae-ro 77-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, 1st floor.

Deokjane Bangatgan isn't just about the tteokbokki — the sundae is great too, so it's a Gangnam tteokbokki spot I drop by whenever I'm craving bunsik.

Coming out of Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 7 and taking the alley right there, it's about a 2-minute walk, and it's also about 3 minutes from the Gangnam Station bus center lane, so it's pretty accessible.

Hours are 11am to 8:30pm, with break time from 2:30pm to 4pm. Last order is 8pm, but ingredients can run out late in the day, so I'd recommend calling ahead before you visit.

I finished work late and knew I'd be cutting it close to the 8pm last order, so I called ahead and ordered before heading over. When I arrived, the takeout was already packed and ready, so I could grab it and go right away :)

## How to order right before the 8pm last call

Even though I arrived right around 8 o'clock, customers kept coming in — this is clearly a popular Gangnam tteokbokki spot.

Kiosk ordering closes at 8pm, so after that you order directly at the counter. When I visited, the jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) and donkkaseu (pork cutlet) were already sold out.

They also have bunsik set menus available, so ordering a set can be a bit cheaper and let you enjoy a bigger variety than ordering items individually.

## The open kitchen and what comes with a dine-in meal

The restaurant has an open kitchen, so you can watch the cooking happen right in front of you — even the sauce containers are kept impeccably clean, which gave me confidence in the hygiene of this Gangnam tteokbokki spot.

The staff were all friendly, and I noticed tables being wiped down right after customers left, which made me feel the store is managed carefully.

Eating in, you also get potato salad and warm eomuk broth — the potato salad pairs nicely with tteokbokki since it mellows out the spiciness, and the self-serve bar has not just chopsticks but forks, spoons, knives, and scissors, plus as much danmuji (pickled radish) as you want, which is convenient.

## No potato salad with takeout orders

For takeout orders, the potato salad that comes with dine-in isn't included. Since I ordered late in the day, it couldn't be helped, but it was a little disappointing. This time I packed tteokbokki, sundae, and gimbap to take to school as a simple meal.

I thought it'd be nice if potato salad came with takeout orders too once the weather gets a bit colder, haha.

The packaging itself was neat and tidy, making it a great Gangnam tteokbokki spot for eating at home or bringing along on a picnic.

## What does Deokjane Bangatgan's garaetteok tteokbokki taste like?

Deokjane's tteokbokki reportedly uses thick, plump garaetteok (cylindrical rice cakes) pulled fresh every morning.

The moment I took a bite, the word "chewy" practically came out of my mouth — the rice cakes are seriously chewy and springy.

There's a whole thick piece of eomuk in there too, along with green onion, and eating the green onion together with the eomuk added a subtle sharp sweetness that went really well with the tteokbokki.

The tteokbokki sauce is reportedly made with gochujang (chili paste) aged for about a week, and they ladle on a generous amount of that thick, sweet-and-spicy sauce.

You can cut the thick rice cakes and soak them in sauce until you can barely see the white underneath, so the seasoning really gets into every bite, and you can properly taste that thick sauce flavor.

Dipping the sundae or gimbap into the leftover sauce works great too, so you end up using every bit of it — a truly satisfying Gangnam tteokbokki spot.

![Deokja gimbap with egg and burdock](https://img.superchart.com/images/deokjane-bangatgan-sinnonhyeon-late-takeout/deokjane-bangatgan-sinnonhyeon-late-takeout-14-14ch2-900.webp)

## Sundae and deokja gimbap

I don't usually love sundae, but this one has a chewy, springy texture and enough seasoning built in that you can eat it plain without even dipping it in salt — I was hooked on Deokjane's sundae for a while, haha.

The deokja gimbap sticks to the basics — egg, danmuji, ham, carrot, and burdock — so I brought it to school to eat on the go, and it was clean and light, perfect for a quick simple meal.

## Is Deokjane Bangatgan worth it for late takeout?

From tteokbokki to sundae to gimbap, you can enjoy all the classic bunsik menu items here, and the chewy garaetteok tteokbokki is really what makes Deokjane Bangatgan special.

If you're looking for a Gangnam tteokbokki spot near Sinnonhyeon or Gangnam Station, dining in is great, but if you're running late like I was, I'd also recommend calling ahead and ordering takeout :)
