This weekend's date took us to Government Complex Daejeon Station in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. My boyfriend and I were trying to figure out where to get good Western food for lunch, so we went to Plate Dunsan Branch, a place I'd had my eye on for a while.

It's already famous as a date spot that nails both atmosphere and taste, and visiting in person made me like it even more. From the mood-filled interior to the menu lineup that grabs your appetite, here's my honest review of Plate Dunsan Branch!

The pretty Plate logo on the glass entrance door and the wine display that caught my eye before we even walked in — the atmosphere-heavy vibe was obvious from the outside, and I remember my boyfriend and I stepping in with high expectations.

Even before we sat down, there was a varied wine display, and since we walked in without a reservation, browsing it during the wait was actually fun.

## Inside Plate Dunsan: a calm, cozy dining room

Once inside, the soft lighting and modern interior stood out. It's calm and cozy overall — the perfect space to have a quiet, intimate conversation over dinner with my boyfriend. The table spacing was comfortable too, great for spending time as a couple.

There was a card holder on the table with various leaflets. The first thing that caught my eye was the promotion card: 1,000 won off for cash bank transfer payments over 30,000 won, and free ice cream for a Naver photo receipt review. Small but solid perks..!

Next, the pizza menu — I thought pasta was their only focus, but there were three types: beef cheddar pizza, fire-grilled chapsteak pizza, and lobster shrimp bisque rosé pizza, all looking so delicious.

### Choose Your Pasta: picking your own noodle shape

What especially surprised me at Plate Dunsan Branch was the Choose Your Pasta board, which lets you pick a noodle to match your taste — from regular, spinach, and squid ink spaghetti, to soft and chewy fresh noodles like tagliatelle, pappardelle, and picci, to dried noodles in various shapes and textures like linguine, penne, fusilli, farfalle, conchiglie, and rigatoni. Choosing was genuinely fun.

Finally, we opened the set and à la carte menu to order — pasta, steak, and side dishes were all laid out clearly, so my boyfriend and I carefully picked what to have.

The homemade corn soup included in the set was soft and warm, soothing to the stomach. It was rich and sweet enough to feel like both a dessert and a meal.

Before the main dishes came out, we got the bushman bread first! A light spread of butter on the warm pre-meal bread melted right in, filling my mouth with a nutty flavor.

The cool, refreshing lemonade was perfect as a palate cleanser between bites. It kept refreshing our mouths.

## Why tagliatelle works for the creamy rosé pasta

One of the mains — a custom pasta tailored to your taste! After choosing creamy rosé pasta, I wanted soft, chewy fresh noodles, and among those, I especially like flat, wide noodles like tagliatelle and pappardelle.

After going back and forth between the two, the menu recommended tagliatelle, so I trusted it and ordered accordingly. Tagliatelle has a texture like flat kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), with excellent sauce absorption — great to recommend when you want a thick, hearty pasta.

Maybe because it was made fresh in-house, the noodle texture wasn't chewy or tough at all, but very soft. The sauce soaked in deeply instead of just sitting on top, and I satisfyingly cleaned the plate.

## Is the 220g flat iron steak enough for two to share?

The steak came out cooked just right — deliciously browned on the outside, holding moist juices inside — and paired with the garnish, it was a main dish that fully lived up to a weekend date atmosphere.

The al배추 (young napa cabbage) marinated in sauce was tasty, so was the potato mousse, and the tomato, but above all, this medium-rare steak was the best... Can you see the grain of the meat? Juices bursting ;

The single portion was surprisingly big, so sharing it between us wasn't lacking at all. No need to worry about portion size~

## Is Plate Dunsan worth it for a birthday or anniversary date?

Honestly, since the steak course was in the 30,000-won range, I expected the price to be so nice that the taste might just be so-so, but it was surprisingly delicious ; It's easily family-restaurant quality, and my boyfriend and I kept saying how good this place really is while we ate.

Taste, price, atmosphere — nothing was missing, making it a solid date course, and I'd recommend visiting for a birthday or anniversary. I usually love pork ribs, so next time I plan to come back to try the pork ribs I noticed this time along with other menu items.

Whether it's a meal after shopping at Galleria Timeworld, a birthday or anniversary date near Dunsan-dong, an atmospheric Western restaurant to visit with a girlfriend or boyfriend, or a Western food spot near Government Complex Daejeon Station or City Hall Station, I recommend Plate Dunsan Branch.
