## In short

Hana Shabu Shabu Junggye Main Branch is a Japanese-style shabu-shabu and seiro-mushi (steamer-cooked meat and vegetables) restaurant in Junggye-dong, Nowon, Seoul. Visiting with both parents, the writer ordered the lunch seiro-mushi A course at 27,000 won per person and a bottle of chilled dokuri sake at 9,000 won, and the steamer took about 25 minutes to cook for three. With floor seating, private rooms and free parking, Hana Shabu Shabu made an easy spot for a family meal in Junggye-dong.

Today I want to introduce a Junggye-dong favorite I visited with my parents: Hana Shabu Shabu. I usually check everything carefully—menu options, the restaurant's atmosphere, whether parking is available. Looking for a place that isn't too spicy or heavy, with fresh ingredients and a comfortable setting for conversation, I ended up at Hana Shabu Shabu, known as a shabu-shabu spot in Junggye-dong.

This time I used the Superchart discount, and being able to enjoy both shabu-shabu and seiro-mushi (steamer-cooked vegetables and meat) made it a satisfying choice for a family meal in Junggye. This was my nth visit, and the food quality along with the Japanese-style atmosphere and service continue to impress me.

## Where is Hana Shabu Shabu Junggye Main Branch, and is there parking?

- Address: 서울 노원구 동일로203가길 29 브라운스톤중계 101호
- Parking: Free parking available
- Hours: Daily 11:00–22:00
- Reservation tip: Reserve ahead for seiro-mushi (vegetables and meat take about 15 minutes to cook)

Hana Shabu Shabu feels so familiar to me. Can you tell there's a distinct atmosphere right from the entrance? Haha. Free parking is available for those driving, which made it easy to get there with my parents. Many people check both taste and accessibility/parking, and this place has it all covered—making it a solid choice for a Junggye family meal or a Nowon group dinner spot.

## Floor seats and private rooms: where to sit with parents

![2-person sit-down table where shoes come off](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-03-1c4tw-900.webp)

![Table seating for 3 or more and a room-style seating area](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-04-101fi-900.webp)

This is a sit-down table. It seats two, and you'll need to take off your shoes to sit up on it.

This table seats three or more, great for family gatherings or group dinners. On the left is a table set up as a room, which I'd recommend for group dinners.

The owner personally learned the recipes in Japan, which might explain why this place feels calmer and more upscale than typical shabu-shabu restaurants—it reminded me of a tidy local restaurant in Japan. The overall quiet, clean feel suited eating with my parents well.

Beyond a relaxed family meal, it seemed like a good option for family gatherings, important meals, or a Nowon group dinner spot. Rather than a loud atmosphere, it's a space where you can focus on the food and conversation and eat at a relaxed pace.

They stock a variety of sake and wine.

Every window is full of cute little decorations. Haha.

## How much is the lunch seiro-mushi A course for three?

Hana Shabu Shabu splits its menu into lunch and dinner, so it's worth choosing carefully to get the best value. I ordered the lunch seiro-mushi A course for three, plus one bottle of cold dokuri.

- A course (base + rice dish + dessert): ₩27,000 per person
- 1 bottle cold dokuri: ₩9,000

![Yuzu ponzu, sesame sauce, and chili sauce on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-12-1bwy6-900.webp)

Every table comes with yuzu ponzu, sesame sauce, and chili sauce, so you can help yourself to whatever suits your taste. If you'd like wasabi, just ask a staff member and they'll bring you fresh grated wasabi. Haha.

![Pickled radish, pickled peppers, and salad side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-14-16u45-900.webp)

Bowls, water cups, a set of utensils, sauce dishes, pickled radish, pickled peppers, cheongyang chili peppers, and salad all come as standard. The paper the utensils rest on has an explanation of seiro-mushi and shabu-shabu printed on it.

## Seiro-mushi for three: 25 minutes on the hourglass

The hourglass finally arrived. It's meant to run about 15 minutes, but since I ordered for three, it took about 25 minutes.

![Bean sprouts, brisket, and sirloin before going into the steamer](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-15-isolh-900.webp)

![Vegetables piled high in the top layer of the seiro-mushi steamer](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-16-ytq6g-900.webp)

Before going into the steamer, the bottom layer is packed with bean sprouts, brisket, and sirloin, and the top layer is piled high with vegetables. There were so many vegetables that the lid wouldn't close, so they set a water bottle on top of the steamer. Haha.

The moment the lid came off, so much steam poured out that I let it cool a bit before filming the whole thing. Vegetables aren't just visible on top—there's plenty packed underneath too.

![A plate of cooked meat and bean sprouts](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-17-r7ge0-900.webp)

You can roll the bean sprouts and meat together, or dip the vegetables in whichever sauce you like.

![Cold dokuri poured into a koi-patterned glass](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-18-k71r6-m-900.webp)

![Complimentary tadaki seared with a torch](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-19-1b89c-900.webp)

### Chilled dokuri sake at 9,000 won and a complimentary tataki

It was still warm out, so I ordered cold dokuri (Japanese sake). Cold dokuri, ₩9,000. I had to drive, so only my parents drank it—there's a pretty koi fish swimming in the glass. Haha.

They gave us a complimentary tadaki (seared beef) made with a kitchen torch. The complimentary tadaki was already seasoned, and it had that perfect sweet-and-salty balance.

## The rice course: mentaiju and gyudon

On the left is mentaiju (pollack roe rice bowl), on the right is gyudon (beef rice bowl).

![Mentaiju and gyudon served together](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-20-1353b-900.webp)

![Two rice dish options from the course meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-21-1jivl-900.webp)

The gyudon was topped with red pickled ginger, sesame seeds, and chopped green onion. It's sweet, so kids would probably enjoy it too.

This is the mentaiju, topped with white pollack roe, sesame seeds, chopped green onion, and thin chili strips. Personally, I liked the mentaiju even more—the salty flavor of the pollack roe paired perfectly with the rice.

![Taro pudding served for dessert](https://img.superchart.com/images/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course/hana-shabu-jungye-parents-seiromushi-course-24-12yrl-900.webp)

## Dessert: house-made taro pudding

Finally, dessert! Taro pudding. The owner makes the puddings in-house, so the flavors vary by season—banana, strawberry, taro, and more. I've visited several times and tried a variety of puddings.

It was a warm time spent chatting away with my parents over good food. For anyone looking for a great spot in Nowon or Junggye-dong, I'd recommend Hana Shabu Shabu without hesitation—the taste, atmosphere, price, and parking were all satisfying. If you're after a Junggye-dong restaurant, shabu-shabu, seiro-mushi, a family meal spot, or a Nowon group dinner place, this is a definite recommendation.
