I'd been craving ramen for days, so I went searching for a good ramen spot in Dalseo and ended up at Myeonsikdang Keimyung University Branch! It's pretty famous as a ramen restaurant among the places near Keimyung's east gate, so I was excited excited 💕

## Is there a wait on Sunday evening? Seats and mood at Myeonsikdang

I'd heard there's a long wait on weekdays, but we visited on a Sunday evening and there weren't that many customers, so we could eat at a relaxed pace. I guess since it's near a university, weekends are actually quieter!

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, and once inside, the seating was more spacious than I expected, with generous spacing between tables.

There's also a separate counter (dachi) seating area, which looked great for eating solo, and charging spots were set up here and there — a nice thoughtful touch.

But best of all, there's a huge floor-to-ceiling window, and since the weather's been so nice lately, they had it wide open haha. It gave a real sense of openness, with a gentle breeze drifting in — the weekend evening vibe was so good! Naturally, we sat by the window. We came with our baby, and there was a separate baby chair, so we could eat comfortably.

## What comes in the two-person set at Myeonsikdang

We went with the two-person set menu. You each get to choose 2 mains + 1 side + 1 drink, so we could order a nice variety.

I was craving something rich and spicy, so I picked the ✔️spicy tonkotsu ramen, and since I also wanted pork cutlet, I added ✔️handmade pork loin cutlet. For the side, we chose ✔️fire-flavored mini buta-don (grilled pork rice bowl), which looked perfect for the baby, and for the drink, ✔️green grape ade. Ramen, cutlet, and a rice bowl all in one meal — perfect for two people trying several dishes.

## Handmade pork loin cutlet with salt, cumin and fresh wasabi

First up, the handmade pork loin cutlet. It looked so good just from the visuals!!! The breading was fried perfectly crispy, and on the stone plate, the cutlet was beautifully arranged alongside pink salt, cumin salt (jjeuran), and fresh wasabi, plus regular and spicy tonkatsu sauces — the plating was neat and pretty.

Dipping it in each sauce one by one, trying it with salt, adding wasabi on top — it was fun trying all the different combinations!

I'm normally a wasabi person, so the fresh wasabi topping was my favorite, and the cumin salt gave a different feel from how I usually eat cutlet — a fun change of pace.

They say they use the best domestic ingredients, and you can really tell the meat quality is a cut above!

## How spicy is the spicy tonkotsu ramen?

And then the spicy tonkotsu ramen I'd really been wanting. It came loaded with seaweed, smoky char siu (roast pork), a soft-boiled egg, and plenty of bean sprouts. The noodles were nice and chewy, pairing well with the bean sprouts, and above all, the broth is truly, tru~~~ly rich and deep! Apparently the tonkotsu ramen sells over 2,000 bowls a month on average — a true bestseller — and after tasting it, I immediately understood why it's famous as a ramen spot near Keimyung.

I figured 'spicy tonkotsu' would be just a little kick, but oh, it's actually quite spicy! There's a decent sharp, spicy edge to it, which I loved since I like spicy food! That said, it's not overwhelmingly intense — just a pleasantly spicy level that paired really well with the ramen broth. 💕

## Fire-flavored mini buta-don, shared with the baby

And then the mini buta-don. I ordered it to share with the baby, and the size turned out to be perfect for that. I portioned some out for the baby, and she ate it up so well haha. Mom and dad split the rest, and with that great smoky char, it was genuinely delicious!

I also gave the baby small bites of the pork cutlet, and she loved that too — today she really put on a full eating show haha. Thanks to that, mom and dad could eat comfortably while the baby enjoyed delicious food too — a genuinely fun dinner.

## Verdict: a ramen and pork cutlet spot by the Keimyung University east gate

Wrapped up with a refreshing green grape ade 💚 I went looking for Japanese-style ramen and ended up at Myeonsikdang Keimyung University Branch near the east gate. The ramen broth was rich and delicious, and the crispy pork cutlet and buta-don were both great too!
