## In short

Buja Hodu is a dessert shop on Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, selling walnut pastries (hodu gwaja) made with 100% rice dough. The writer bought the 24-piece mix box for 27,000 won, with six each of low-sugar red bean, pea cream cheese, matcha and almond praline, checked how each piece is individually wrapped, and found a receipt event running that gives two walnut pastries plus one americano. Buja Hodu's boxes make an easy gift-ready souvenir to carry home from a Gyeongju trip.

[Buja Hodu] a dessert spot on Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju

## Why Buja Hodu's walnut pastries as a Gyeongju souvenir?

While traveling in Gyeongju I was wondering what to bring back as a souvenir, and while wandering Hwangnidan-gil I found Buja Hodu and picked up some walnut pastries (hodu gwaja) to give as gifts~! These aren't the plain red-bean-filled walnut pastries you usually see — you can choose from a bunch of flavors, from low-sugar red bean to pea cream cheese, matcha, and almond praline,

![Buja Hodu's gift-packaged walnut pastries](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box-02-nutkx-900.webp)

and the packaging is neat too, so it seems like a good gift for family or friends after a Gyeongju trip. So let's get into this post about <Buja Hodu>, the Hwangnidan-gil dessert spot that makes a great Gyeongju souvenir~!🤍

## Buja Hodu location and opening hours on Hwangnidan-gil

[Buja Hodu] 📍Location: 48-8 Sajeong-dong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk ⏰Hours: Daily 9:30–20:00

I found Buja Hodu while wandering around Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju, and the sign saying "100% rice dough" caught my eye.

There was also a big sign out front saying "Get your holiday gifts at Buja Hodu," which seems like a good spot for anyone looking for gifts or souvenirs while traveling in Gyeongju.

## How many walnut pastry flavors does Buja Hodu make?

Buja Hodu's walnut pastries come in four flavors: low-sugar red bean / pea cream cheese / matcha / almond praline!!

![Sign listing the four flavors: low-sugar red bean, pea cream cheese, matcha, and almond praline](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box-06-1000f-900.webp)

Unlike typical walnut pastries, being able to pick from several flavors really appealed to me~! Since there are unusual flavors like cream cheese or matcha, it seems easy to pick based on your taste🤍

## Tasting Buja Hodu's walnut pastries in the shop

The owner gave me one to try, and when I cut it in half, the filling inside was packed in pretty generously. The outside was nutty and a little crispy, while the inside had a distinct personality depending on the flavor, so it was fun picking through them one by one.

- Pea cream cheese: soft cream cheese paired with pea filling, a bit more like a dessert
- Matcha: has a subtle matcha flavor, so even people who don't like very sweet desserts would probably like it

☕️🥤🧃🫖 They also sell drinks like americano, café latte, ade, apple juice, and ginseng tea.

## Inside the 27,000-won 24-piece mix: six of each flavor

What I bought was the 24-piece mix☺️ Price: ₩27,000! It's made up of 6 red bean, 6 pea cream cheese, 6 matcha, and 6 almond praline — 24 in total~!

![Buja Hodu's 24-piece mix box packaging](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box-14-5sfk6-900.webp)

Rather than filling the whole box with one flavor, I liked the mix better since I could try a bit of everything!♥️

![The 24-piece mix box containing all four flavors](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box-15-1pcl7-900.webp)

When I opened the box, each walnut pastry was sitting in its own compartment.

![Inside the box, with pastries divided into individual compartments](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box/gyeongju-hwangnidanhil-buja-hodu-mix-box-16-frr7g-900.webp)

They're individually wrapped so they're easy to grab and eat, and there seemed less risk of them getting crushed inside the box haha.

✨Above all, the packaging itself is clean, so instead of just buying it as a snack, it felt like something worth bringing home as a Gyeongju souvenir or gift set^^ If Gyeongju is too far, they also do courier delivery, so if you're interested check out their store^^♥️

## Is Buja Hodu worth a stop in Gyeongju?

When picking a souvenir while traveling in Gyeongju, something practical you can bring home and eat with family beats anything too big or hard to store~! In that sense, Buja Hodu felt like a great Gyeongju souvenir with its clean packaging and variety of flavors.
