I visited Jongno Donburi Yeonnam, a great Japanese restaurant in Yeonnam-dong! The atmosphere and food were both so good that I was suuuper satisfied. Let’s get honestly into this Gyeongui Line Forest Park gem! ❛˓◞˂̵✧

Jongno Donburi Yeonnam is located around the middle of Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Yeonnam-dong. On a cool day like this, I took a leisurely walk from Hongik University Station and got there in no time! ʚ♡ɞ

The interior was neatly done in wood tones like this. There were a range of tables, from two-person to four-person ones. I visited after 1 p.m. on a weekend, and, true to its reputation as a Gyeongui Line Forest Park favorite, customers kept coming in nonstop! 𓇼

There were also lots of counter seats, so it looked great for dining alone! •‿• Oh, and there is a restroom inside too, which made it even more convenient ☁︎

Sake don seemed to be one of the signature dishes, and, as you would expect from a great Japanese rice bowl spot, there were lots of different bowls. 𖥔 ˖ There were also nabe (Japanese hot pots) and udon, so choosing was very difficult! 𓇼

Once you order, they bring out soup and danmuji (pickled yellow radish) like this. The soup was so rich and really delicious! ꔛ

I wanted to have a croquette on the side too, but I simply could not give up the karaage! The karaage came with a salad, and you can get a refill if the salad is not enough. 𖤐

The large pieces of karaage had a truly crispy coating. Dip them in the mayonnaise sauce that comes alongside and—wouldn’t that be the best side dish ever,,,, •ᴥ•

## The chewy noodles of my first-ever bukkake udon

The bukkake udon came with shrimp tempura! This was actually my first time trying cold udon. The brown-looking thing on top was a thin layer of ice! Break the onsen egg and mix everything together well. Can you see how bouncy those noodles are?

I actually do not like udon. I prefer thin noodles to thick ones, so udon noodles are not usually my thing. But everyone, was cold udon always this delicious? First of all, the noodles were so chewy—chewy! Mixed with the onsen egg, they were nutty, savory, and so delicious! ღ

There was seaweed in it too. 𖥔 ˖ At first I wondered, why seaweed? But it was quietly such a great touch. As a seaweed lover, I thought it would have been nice to have even more ◡̈⋆

## Generous katsudon with an onsen egg and onions

The katsudon, freshly fried to order, arrived steaming hot. It too came with an onsen egg! Jongno Donburi Yeonnam says it uses Sindongjin Oktop Jinmi rice, so even the rice is delicious here. There was a double katsudon with twice the portion, but even the regular size was very generous, with lots and lots of onions too!

This thick pork cutlet was loin, so the texture was wonderful. 𖤐 One bite of the nutty egg-mixed rice, savory onions, and pork cutlet—now isn’t that happiness?

## A satisfying meal even for someone who usually dislikes udon

Jongno Donburi Yeonnam in Yeonnam-dong 🎀 I enjoyed every dish, so I left after the meal feeling so happy! Everything was delicious, but if I had to pick the dish I was most satisfied with, it would be the bukkake udon. It won over someone like me who normally does not like udon, after all. I have been hooked on bukkake udon ever since that day. With its lovely atmosphere and great food, it would be perfect for a date along Gyeongui Line Forest Park too.
