## In short

Palpal Hoesenta Sokcho Daepo Port Market Branch is a snow crab and live fish restaurant at the entrance of Daepo Port Fish Market in Sokcho, Gangwon. On a day trip to Sokcho, a window table facing the sea came with the Snow Crab C Set for two at 190,000 won, which filled the table with mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), corn cheese, clam soup, live fish sashimi, live squid, abalone, snow crab, crab tomalley fried rice and spicy fish stew. Palpal Hoesenta works best as a crab lunch with a sea view plus a walk around Daepo Port afterward.

I suddenly really wanted to see the East Sea, so I went all the way to Sokcho on a day trip~ If I'm going all the way to Sokcho just to see the sea, I can't skip eating too. I happened to have a campaign visit lined up, so I went to eat snow crab at Palpal Hoesenta's Daepo Port Market branch.

## How to find Palpal Hoesenta at Daepo Port Fish Market

Palpal Hoesenta's Daepo Port Market branch is right near the entrance of Daepo Port Market, so we found it without any trouble. Most of all, the Palpal Hoesenta sign is huge, so there's no need to wander around looking. Even first-timers should be able to find it quickly just by keeping an eye out for the sign as they enter Daepo Port Market.

### The fish market right behind Palpal Hoesenta

![Fish tanks of the Daepo Port fish market connected behind Palpal Hoesenta](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-01-r4e1q-900.webp)

Walking through the back of the restaurant leads straight into the fish market. There's a row of yellow tanks lined up, and there were so many kinds of seafood — fresh, live snow crab, king crab, lobster, you name it.

Snow crabs move around live in the tanks, with the dining area in front and the fish market connected right behind it. Peeking into each tank one by one — snow crab, king crab, lobster, octopus — was surprisingly fun!!

## Window seats with a sea view and the dining room

As soon as we walked in we claimed the window seat facing the sea lol. The window was wide open too, so Daepo Port's ocean was right in front of us and cool autumn breeze was drifting in — ah... this is exactly why people come all the way to Sokcho to see the sea!

We went on a weekday for early lunch, so there weren't many customers and it was quiet. Sitting in the warm-feeling interior, chatting with my sister while looking at the sea, I was already in a good mood before the food even arrived. If you visit Sokcho on a cool autumn day, try sitting at a window seat like I did and catch the breeze.

This is exactly why people come to the East Sea, right??

## Ordering the Snow Crab C Set for two, 190,000 won

We ordered the Snow Crab C Set for two at ₩190,000. Coming all the way to Sokcho, it would be a shame to only eat crab. Since the set comes with everything from sashimi to seafood, it seemed perfect for the two of us to try a bit of everything — so we went with the Snow Crab C Set!

### The side dishes that come before the crab

After ordering the Snow Crab C Set, the side dishes started arriving one by one.

![A bowl of tangy, sweet mulhoe (cold raw fish soup)](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-09-113mg-900.webp)

Tangy, sweet, and refreshing mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) that wakes up your appetite!!

![Warm corn cheese served at the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-10-17luk-900.webp)

Warm, soft, savory corn cheese!! And clam soup — one sip of the broth and I felt refreshed to my core!

![수조에서 바로 나온 살아있는 새우 접시](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-11-lmei4-900.webp)

Live shrimp still wriggling around, looking like it came straight out of the tank. I'm no shrimp expert so I don't know exactly what kind it was. I told them I couldn't eat live shrimp, and they kindly and thoughtfully steamed it for me instead. So touched!!

Fried crab legs, crispy outside and moist inside. Live octopus, abalone, and sea squirt came along too — the octopus was still moving and the abalone was so fresh it had that perfect crunchy texture.

## Live fish sashimi arrives first

![Live fish sashimi plate garnished with a flower](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-12-1t7ta-900.webp)

We were so busy happily eating our way through the side dishes that we forgot about the main dish, when the live fish sashimi arrived first. But wait, why did they plate the sashimi so beautifully?? With a flower on top, I couldn't help but take an extra photo!! The thickly sliced sashimi looked glossy and fresh — we came for crab but ended up feasting on sashimi first lol.

We dipped it generously in chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) and also wrapped a piece in lettuce for a ssam. The sashimi was sliced thick, so it had a satisfying chewy bite, yet it melted softly in the mouth.

![A thick-cut piece of live fish sashimi](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-13-1vncd-900.webp)

![Sashimi and garlic wrapped in lettuce for a ssam](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-14-d2gaj-900.webp)

It's delicious dipped in chojang, and also delicious wrapped with garlic and chili — sashimi by the sea, you just can't resist it~~!!

## The main event: the snow crab

![A plate of snow crab with legs prepped and spread out](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-15-1a9ng-1200.webp)

After thoroughly enjoying the sashimi, the long-awaited snow crab finally arrived!! It came already prepped for easy eating, legs spread out and the body placed right in the center — the plate was completely full. We'd been so focused on the side dishes and sashimi that we'd briefly forgotten about the main dish lol.

I picked up one crab leg and the meat was packed in without a single gap. The moment I cracked the shell open, the plump crab meat was right there — had to take a photo first!!

![A snow crab leg packed full of meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-16-q7bh1-900.webp)

Pulling it out, the meat came out in one long piece without falling apart, and once in my mouth it was soft, moist, and even a little sweet!! This is exactly what snow crab should taste like — legs packed full of meat, right??

![Snow crab leg meat pulled out in one long piece](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-17-18hac-900.webp)

The meat wasn't dry at all, it pulled apart moist along the grain, and the more I chewed, the more a subtle sweetness came through. It was delicious even plain, no dipping sauce needed — one bite, then pulling apart another leg, on repeat haha.

![Snow crab body full of tomalley](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-18-ca1z4-900.webp)

### Crab tomalley fried rice is a must

The crab's body is packed with tomalley (crab innards). They told us to leave that alone instead of eating it directly — they use it to make fried rice, mixing it with rice inside the shell.

![Tomalley fried rice mixed in the crab shell](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-19-vujjy-900.webp)

This was genuinely delicious. Rice mixed with crab tomalley, topped with dried seaweed flakes and sesame seeds — one spoonful in and it was like, mm~ this is it!! lol The rich, savory flavor of the tomalley soaked right into every grain of rice, and with the seaweed flakes added, the umami was next level.

![A spoonful of tomalley fried rice topped with seaweed flakes and sesame seeds](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-20-xq007-900.webp)

The crab meat was great, but honestly, for me this tomalley fried rice was the real star. Even full, I couldn't put my spoon down... If you're having snow crab, you absolutely have to get this.

Looking at everything laid out together, it's even more impressive, right? This was definitely the Snow Crab C Set for two, but it completely filled the table.

![Full table spread of the Snow Crab C Set](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-21-ar3be-900.webp)

Snow crab, live fish sashimi, mulhoe, live octopus, abalone, sea squirt, flower shrimp, fried crab legs, corn cheese, clam soup, and tomalley fried rice — all of it!!

## Finishing with spicy fish stew

![Spicy fish stew served as the final dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-22-av98l-900.webp)

Last but not least, bubbling hot and spicy fish stew! I said I was full, but once that warm broth showed up, room appeared again lol. A clean finish with spicy fish stew!

## A walk around Daepo Port after lunch

After eating that much, you can't just leave. We took a slow walk along Daepo Port right out front. There's a nice deck walkway over the water, with sculptures and photo spots along the way, making it a pleasant walk while sightseeing.

![Deck walkway extending over Daepo Port's sea](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-23-1erdz-900.webp)

Walking by the sea in the daytime already has its own charm, but I imagine the atmosphere completely changes in the evening when the lights come on.

![Daytime view of Daepo Port's sea](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set/sokcho-daepohang-seaview-snow-crab-set-24-162cn-900.webp)

Walking along Daepo Port at night with the lights on would probably be really pretty too! Next time, I'd like to come around sunset, eat, and then see the night view too.

## What Palpal Hoesenta is like, and visit tips

Palpal Hoesenta's Daepo Port Market branch has Daepo Port right in front, so from the window seats you can eat while looking at the sea. Visiting on a cool day like we did, the sea breeze even comes through the window, so eating snow crab while watching the sea really made it feel like a proper Sokcho trip.

Both the owner and staff were super kind. They kept checking in on us with each dish, and it was a genuinely pleasant meal the whole time.

If you're looking for a snow crab restaurant in Sokcho and feel like just crab alone would be a shame, the set menu with live fish sashimi, mulhoe, seafood, tomalley fried rice, and spicy fish stew is a solid choice. And definitely take a walk along Daepo Port right out front afterward. It's great for walking in the open sea view during the day, and the night view with the lights on should be lovely too.

If you're looking for Dokdo shrimp, snow crab, or a raw fish restaurant in Sokcho, this is a good spot to pair with a walk around Daepo Port. Next time I go, I want to visit around sunset, eat crab by the window, and catch the night view at Daepo Port too.

## Hours and parking at Daepo Port

Palpal Hoesenta Sokcho Daepo Port Market Branch is located at S-dong 1F 13, 14, 15, 59 Daepohuimang-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea, and is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00 with no regular closing day.

The restaurant doesn't have its own dedicated parking lot. Instead, there's a public Daepo Port parking lot about a 2-3 minute walk away, which is where we parked too. The lot is spacious so finding a spot wasn't hard, and they give out a parking discount coupon after your meal, so make sure to grab one.
